What have you been drinking lately?

This was very good at the Bell in Bicester when I went to see The Worried Men gig the other week

Also on Friday night after the match I had a nice bottle of Old Perculiar, made even nicer as my tight fisted son actually bought it 🤣🤣

Not a particular fan of stouts but Vale do some really nice ales.

Wychert Bitter is very moreish.

Love the fact that in many parts of the Country I have been to in the past couple of years, many have locally brewed ales.

Went through a bit of an alcohol-free stage while trying to conceive. There are a lot of terrible non-alcoholic drinks, though Estrella Damm do a great one, as to Cobra - both taste just like the real thing.

Brummie Bitter & Timothy Taylor Boltmaker mainly though also had a nice Brains SA the other day - should be plenty of that in Swansea

Any idea where I can buy these, @Sarge ?

Little Ox aside...............

Kooliburra Sparkling Shiraz from Aldi......... £7.49 and bloody lovely.

Thanks
Just hoping they might be on sale in a shop somewhere local. Mail order will have to do

@Essexyellows beat me to it with the link... If youre in Oxford( or closeish) The Bottletop at the bottom of Headley way ( Cherwell Drive), have a range of Little Ox cans in stock ( dont think they have the 2 newest ones - yet)
* Edit- they ( The Bottletop) open 11am and close 10pm

Also 13 Dec, the 12.30 ko home game v Preston NE, / OUFC Xmas extravaganza day (morning), Little Ox will have a presence in the Quadrangle prematch, though whether they will have any additional brews to their (OUFC ) Lucky U Pale ale and (OUFC) 1893 Lager with them , I dont know

After being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2015 and then having 37 sessions over 7 1/2 weeks my stomach can no longer take really hoppy beers. This meant a radical change of beers and whilst I have the occasional IPA my go-to beers are Porters/Stouts/Barleywine/dark Mild's/dark beers/with an occasional Lager. And I really enjoy them. As a result of Covid I now tend to buy my beers online, before we left the EU I was ordering beers from all over Europe but now use mainly UK suppliers and I have not been disappointed by them.
1st of three beers tonight and it's from a Scottish brewery - Five Kingdoms Brewery with 6.5% IPA called Captain Morrison's and quite nice it is, not too hoppy.
Will update with the second and third beers later.
2nd beer and it's an American Imperial Stout from the Sierra Nevada Brewery - Narwhal (2025) 10.2% vintage sourced from Left Field Beer and very nice it is.
3rd and final beer of the evening and it's another very nice Imperial Stout, Beak Brewery : Drifts 11% sourced from Left Field Beer.

If you happen to be in town in the next few days The Royal Blenheim has some nice dark beers on tap at the moment.
Theres an App called Real Ale Finder and there's a few Oxford pubs on it. It tells you what they currently have on and forthcoming beers.

Thanks @Sarge - I might brave the ringroad and check out the Bottletop (otherwise it means going through the St Clements congestion charge point). Failing that, I'll wait until the Preston game, although I'm not sure that the stewards would approve of me entering the stadium with a dozen bottles/cans of ale about my person

They do free delivery to OX postcodes on two days of the week I had a delivery on Wednesday. I can't remember how much you have to spend for free delivery as I had a gift card to use.
They could probably deliver to your workplace if youre office/shop/workshop based.
I know it's a fair bit in the future but it would be good at the new stadium if the bars stocked local smaller breweries beers instead of the National type selection where theyre all brewed within a few 100 yards of each other.

From Wednesday evening,
1st beer, Mason Brewing : Lights out, a nice port-barrel aged imperial stout sourced direct from the brewery by a beer drinking buddy.
2nd beer, Bearwood Brewing : Tabula Rasa, a nice export stout sourced by a beer drinking buddy.
3rd and final beer, Tempest Brewing : All the Leaves Are Brown (2025), a nice imperial brown ale sourced from Left Field Beer.

May I report that the Little Ox Seasonable Doubt is a very nice drink...... think nearer a "proper" bitter than any IPA. Lovely flavour and a nice dark, malty edge. Its a 10 from Len!
