Well that was certainly the last straw but not sure what point you're trying to make.

You could argue if we were militarily ready (which we weren't) it would have been a good idea to target bomb German supply chains before the war begun.

All I'm trying to do is say the best option is to give a country no reason to bomb you isn't a blanket correct statement.

It doesn't account for illogical actors like Hitler, Ayotollahs et al.

I see Trump is now saying that of course he knew the price of oil would go up. That’s obviously why he stocked the emergency oil reserve in advance of any military action. Oh, hang, on … Absolute bunch of 🤡. I’m glad our government isn’t following the whole-hearted-support-of-whatever-US-and-Israel-want-to-do line being advocated by our homegrown 🤡 (former pm and wannabe pm).

The UK is deeply involved in this war, aside from a couple of days when we temporarily didn’t let the US use our bases (which made no material difference). So we need to add Starmer to your party of clowns.

As someone who chooses to live near a US airbase. I accept it is a risk of living next to an military site. You wont see any claims of war crimes or sad faces in the worlds media from me if a Shahed drone comes through my window whilst targeting the US base. Dont build schools in or next to military sites or if you do accept there is a risk.
I do wonder how people coped in the World wars where every slight misfire or aim (which was more common then) wasnt immediately claimed to be a War crime when people in the vicinity get killed.
 
I do object to the lifting of Russian sanctions on oil. And hope the US accelerates the clearing of the Straight of Hormuz so the sanctions can be reapplied quickly. Russia has obviously been helping Iran with inteligence but will be unable to spare troops and supplies from its existing conflicts. Untill this oil news today it was a very bad year for Russia and Putin and Trump had done untold damage to Russias allies around the globe. It is beyond stupid we are not making ourself self sufficient by drilling the north sea. Of course with a nationalized oil company so its not just selling the oil on the world market. We are beholden to the middle east and globalization which is starting to unravel as it always could do.

Get ready for a long haul re the strait. Radio 5 had an expert on who quoted Iran can easily keep this going for 6-12 mths. They have fast gun boats that can get to ships.and do the damage needed. Trumpy talks re he's going to put war ships there to open it but they are slow and lack Manvoability. Today he said the ships should just go thru, sure the owners will, with no insurance.

Trumpy says USA will earn big money from the increase in oil price, but as on newsnight it will have a greater impact on the US economy as they use more than they produce and remember the US driving season will start soon!

After all look at the Somali pirates, they have been doing damage and getting hostages for years , has the USA stopped them NO!

Well aren't you just a bright compassionate soul. I expect you're okay with bombing hospitals as well, after all, it's Iran's fault that they were built in a city targeted by enemy bombs

I agree on the USA being soft on Russia, but then Putin is a mate of Trump's so it's hardly surprising.

Instead of relying on the Gulf states (or the North Sea) for oil, we need to wean ourselves off fossil fuels for our energy needs. Invest in more wind and solar and tidal farms and we could be self sufficient in a very short time

To be fair 10 years ago that school was part of the military base. The building was repurposed and Right now its literally next door to a revolutionary guard naval site. Hospitals should also be away from military sites. The fact hamas has tunnel entrances that lead into hospitals are just playing the guilt trip card when they do get bombed in Gaza. Keep miltary and civillian infrastructure separate.

It won't be with no insurance - Lloyds of London has said there is still a market. It would just be very expensive insurance, and at the end of the day there is also a very limited number of big tankers, its not like there is a local hire tanker centre to get a quick replacement.

Trump saying the USA will earn big money with oil price increases is the same as the USA earning more money from tariffs - it is just a tax on the American people/companies, not anyone else.

What a farce, so Trump starts a war, barrels of oil doubles in price as the USA Is the major supplier Trump boasts we will profit. Now the a*****e has agreed that Country’s can purchase Russian oil , defeating the object and another kick in the teeth for Europe and Ukraine giving Putin war money!
 
Israel has been claiming that Iran will have nuclear weapons within 3 to 5 years since the early 1990s. Since then they have been trying to get the USA to go in with them to do what they’re doing now. The tangerine nightmare would have done it in his first term but was probably talked down by someone with a bit more sense. He’s now surrounded himself with a bunch of his disciples who if ever they raise a voice against him will be gone.
Israel’s plan is expansion of the state. Trumps plan changes from minute to minute. He personally will be getting something out of this or he’s being blackmailed.
American under him cannot be trusted. He only cares about what’s good for himself, his family and his country in that order. No good sucking up to a bully it makes no difference to him. The outcome of this war will not make the world any safer, the reverse in fact.

The big tankers have been booked by Saudi as they are rerouting oil across the country via pipeline to the red sea so now it's Somali pirates they need to watch out for.

I understand you can get insurance but the premiums would be so huge it wouldn't be worth it.

Presumably you’d be ok with them following up with a second strike 40 mins after the first, after reporting that a civilian residential area had been hit, just to pick off the rescuers too?

There is a massive difference between the technology in wwii and now. All these boasts of precision bombing, and the use of AI tools (that can’t reliably tell you how much flour to put in your cake) yet a school was hit because the wrong coordinates were used, not because of a misfire or equipment failure. It is a war crime if your base your case for attack on your ability to surgically target only military sites. This is a massive failure of the US and it is disappointing to read comments puttting the blame on parents and kids for going to their school.

The general blaming of people for living near a military site is contemptible. How many people can choose to move? To afford to move? Should civvies evacuate Arncott and Ambrosden, Graven Hill, Benson? Ridiculous.

The base near me has been here since the 1930s if you moved in pre then i might have some sympathy if you got hit. No its a risk i take living so close.

Im not blaming the kids i blaming the schools owner (possibly Iran government). Military facilities should be kept separate. Note its only a school right next to a base thats been hit. They arent firing on random schools or buildings like the Iranian regime are.
