I went to the 1st final before the Abomination happened and I walked out utterly unbothered by the result. It, unfortunately, felt like a glorified pre-season friendly.

Each to their own but having attended both the trophy finals, it was a great day out watching us play at Wembley with very little pressure.
I want us to do well in every competition we enter and it’s not like we are Man City who get to see their team play at the national stadium every season.

I very much enjoyed Barnsley - cemented my love of Sir Daniel Hylton. We were also playing some lovely football at that time.

I think that putting B teams into the trophy has shown that it wouldn’t work having them in the actual football league so that is a positive.
The fact no B team has made it to the final also shows that it hasn’t really damaged the competition over all.

Can't be the only one who forgot entirely that we're back in this for 2026/27? Certainly the mods have, as there's no prefix!

Anyway, Cheltenham, Exeter and a Premier U21 side in the first local round. Wonder if the Ticket Exchange will be open?

Anyways.....Cheltenham. Great. I had kind of hoped that they'd have returned to the non-league ranks before we came back to the lower leagues, and that we'd played them for the last time ever already.......

I went to the first one, but was in Hong Kong for the second, so was spared from having to make the moral decision. I did go to watch us play away at Crawley in the group stage that seasons, but would absolutely refuse if the opportunity arose to watch us against a B Team.

Its , irrespective of sponsors, the Football League Trophy - introduced to give 2nd and 3rd tier EFL clubs the chance to play in a Wembley final. The PL broke away from EFL to greedily hoover up Sky Sports filthy moolah, so fuckthem and their youth teams, they do not belong anywhere near anything to do with EFL IMO
