I did have a look but had a Thai veggie curry instead.

We went to get one in the Sunday but it was closed because “the cooker is broken”. Narrow escape.
The veggie curries in the charity tent are superb and much better value anyway.

I went to an Indian restaurant with an Indian friend of mine. He ordered the Vegetable Thali. When I asked him why he didn't go for the meat one, he said 'Trust me, you really shouldn't, I'm Indian and I know what I'm talking about'.

I go for the King Prawn curries myself but am very careful about which Indian restaurants I dine in - Food Hygiene Rating is your friend here!

@Boris - I am quite the carnivore but I have to say that a plant-based Vegan sausage roll is much tastier than a meat-based (loose term here I know) version. It's the one Vegan thing I do.

Our daughter had one of these on the Saturday but wasn’t affected. We’re all veggies in this house though, so perhaps it was meat related.

We were at Nick Cave’s gig in Brighton yesterday and the Yorky stand was there, so they’re seemingly still in business!

Speaking of which, someone tapped me on the shoulder just as Nick Cave was about to come on stage as he notice my Ox tattoo. There was a therefore a little chat about “spades in the ground” before Nick Cave and the band appeared!!

I had the opportunity to see Nick Cave a few years back at an all day festival (all points east?). There were NC fans camped at the rail from the start. Anyway I went to to see St Vincent on the other headline stage.

Yep, like them both and both great live in very different ways.

We even got a bonus certain Aussie last night for a rare performance of Where The Wild Roses Grow.



It was a very emotional show and particularly for Nick Cave you’d suspect, given his history with Brighton and some of the ghosts there for him.

i have a kglw nonagon as my desktop wallpaper heh, gonna have to check out courtney barnett, they're new to me but i see they have a KEXP video and i usually love those

Oh another Aussie band to follow. Dan Luscombe played guitar / produced the first Courtney Barnett EP, whilst he was also in another band, The Drones. So i went to see them play in London.

The Drones went on haitus, while two of them fronted by Gaz Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin formed a new band Tropical *uck Storm. Loads of guitar and effects pedals and feedback and angsty lyrics. They do a great cover of staying alive too. Possibly the best description of them is a middle aged punk couple and their two lesbian daughters.



Another Melbourne band I like are Scott and Charlene’s wedding. Similar folk indie guitar to Courtney Barnett. The front man Dermot has worked his way from a tradie to getting a law degree this year. Another cover with their version of Live it Up (my video)
