  • Trump

    50

You're not far wrong.

There's 27 amendments to the US constitution (although ten of those were ratified in 1791, as the Bill of Rights, when the founding fathers belatedly realized that their big ol' document was missing a few things)

The most recent was ratified in 1992.....but it was actually proposed in 1789, not acted on by enough states, forgotten about for a little over two hundred years and then resurrected by a busybody 19 year old student at the University of Texas who was pissed off at getting a C for one of his essays (ridiculous, but true story. The amendment itself deals with Congress' pay, and basically stops them giving themselves a raise (or a pay cut) between elections).

Even this Congress will not give Trump or Musk the support they would need to change the Constitution, and even this nutty Supreme Court will not allow a rule written as clearly as the natural-born citizen one to be ignored. Trump can ignore most other laws of the land, it seems, but he can't ignore the big one.
Well, there's only one course of action then. The US (and Musk with his private army) must invade and conquer South Africa and make it the 51st state. Problem solved 🤷‍♂️

I've just had a conversation with a friend who tells me there is view forming that says if/when Trump puts up tariffs the EU will have no choice but to follow suit to protect its interests and the UK would be hit by a double whammy (as we're no longer in the EU). It's only a view I agree but the logic is compelling and the consequences for the UK economy wouldn't be exactly positive. Eck.

It just wouldn't be YF without some Brexit bashing 🤣

Trumps Spiel on Rogan about Tariffs made little to no sense to me. He waxed lyrical about them yet fails to succinctly explain how it will work and bring benefits to America.

Would you rather Oxford beat Hull or Trump lose the election?

Like Oxford getting promoted and England winning the Euros, one happening prevents the other.

Weird that people are focused on David Lammy yet seem to forget what Trumps Vice President said about him at the same time?

Or what Boris Johnson said;

Is it possible that they were all right and Trump is a bit of a loon?!

It's so hard for you to accept a Labour man has made a fool of himself.

We are talking about Lammy here going back on his words and making himself seem absolutely utterly spineless.

Try if you might to consider one of "your guys" mouthed off like some kind of crazed student and is now tracking back faster than Kyle Walker.

It would be good if you could grow up a little in your posting. Not everything has to be a battle!

Lammy isn't one of my guys. I think he's a bit of a fool. But what he has said 8 years ago is no worse than what the new VP said, or was said by Boris or many others. I suspect that most still feel exactly the same.

However, professional life means that sometimes you have to move on or put aside your personal beliefs.

It's really not the issue that you are trying to make it. And I would say exactly the same no matter what colour their rosettes are.

Lammy and the new Vice President are good “friends “ no story here .

That's downplaying it to the extremus though.

The language has gone from "deluded, dishonest, xenophobic, narcissistic" and "no friend of Britain" and furthermore "tyrant" and "a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath".

If you are going to come out with stuff like that, at least back it up with some consistency. All this shows is he has no backbone. What he said at the time was totally unprofessional and now he looks a total fool.

Also, it's not just an issue I'm making, I've noticed BBC News wrote an article on it just today: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cm2z1zm1pk3o

This is a textbook lack of integrity from politicians. The language he used was beyond strong and he's now tracked back.

Best he doubles down then
He has two options:

A) Stick to his beliefs, he called him a neo-nazi. If he truly thinks he is literally a nazi, you would assume he wants himself and Britain to have nothing to do with him

B) Apologise unreservedly for being foolish and unprofessional, that he has reconsidered his views and will think more carefully before saying words like neo-nazi in future.

Trying to laugh it off as old news only serves to make him look cowardly and spineless.

All of which sounds pretty accurate to be honest.

It also matches with JD Vance saying that Trump was either an asshole or American Hitler and so much more.

I have no time for Lammy, and think that you're either naive or stupid to think the things you post on social media won't come to bite you on the a**e years down the line. He's both.

But the idea that he owes anyone an apology considering all the bullshit that Trump has come out with is ridiculous. As for integrity? There is none on any side of this sad story.

He doesn't need to apologise but he does need to properly acknowledge it, trying to essentially pretend it never happened is exactly what annoys people about politicians, never men (or women) of their words.

Personally, I don't think Trump is even close to being a neo-nazi and I believe than language is part of language being deployed particularly by large media outlets to increase the divide and increase tensions.

His vice president referred to him as America's Hitler.

A politician who is biting their tongue to do what best for the UK.

If only we had more politician who did what was best for the country rather than what was best for their bank balances over the past 14 years.

Back to this. I want to make it clear that I am a big fan of queuing generally. It's what separates us from lesser countries (for this I mean every other country). BUT NEVER IN PUBS. The one place you don't queue otherwise the whole thing turns to sh*t. And it also means you miss out on the barman saying "right who's next?", you then point to someone else and say "s/he was there before me", they say "thanks mate" and community is restored and everything is right in the world.
My dirty secret is that I do this, but only to establish myself as a man of trust in the eyes of the barman who will then serve me next, even though I just got here.

Spare ten minutes to watch this. The indisputable fake news about Harris at 7m 50s is mind-blowing.

Oh and the irony that it's on Twitter ... er....X hasn't escaped me.
