I am optimistically , like you, going with Harris more comfortably than the polls suggest.I think Kamala will win and it will be more comfortable then people were expecting. The postal votes have been dominated by women (which is better news for Harris), men between 18-30 haven't been voting in great numbers which unless they turn out today is bad news for Trump, Harris has momentum and Trump has gone completely nuts in the last few days. So called Trump stocks (crypto, for example) havent been performing well in the last few days so markets might be thinking it's Harris.
All that said, I have a really bad record of predicting elections and clearly live in my own bubble.
Totally agree. Whilst people will broadly support parties it is healthy for "party supporters" to show scepticism about what is on offer from either / all sides. Good on your sister-in-law.I really, really hope Harris wins. Trump is even more unhinged than last time he got to be president, and *some* of his supporters (even the ones he put on the podium at his rallies) are complete swivel-eyed loons.
I dread to think what will happen both in the US and internationally if Trump wins - and if he loses, then it is going to be a tense time in the US anyway. As with the UK, they have got to find a way of reducing the stupid tribalism in politics. My sister-in-law lives in the States and is a Republican - she says that she simply cannot vote for Trump, and will not vote for Harris. I think there may be quite a lot of that sort of thing going on with the normal Republican voters.
I hope it Harris ... thing is the voters do deserve who/what they vote for , like here in the UK, we had total fruit loops elected on the strength of their election slogans ( Johnson for example) - Locally , in Kidlington, they vote for non-green, greens. Voters are inevitably rather stupid in general, I find
Didn't agree with McCain's politics but what a class act from head to toeMentally prepared for a Trump victory. I'll be opening the champagne for breakfast if it is Harris.
Trump has lost the plot. He has nothing but a couple of buzzwords about the economy, jobs and migrants and the rest is barely comprehensible. Him winning the presidency is a reward for a life of idleness, bullying, greed, misogyny and bigotry. It would be just if Harris, who appears to be a good egg, wins instead.
Remember how cordial and respectful the 2008 race between Obama and McCain was? Two intelligent guys who just agreed to disagree on things but both with an aim to make their country better. Can't the US go back to that? The GOP choose someone who is not just a pumped up ego and the Democrats to find talent from within rather than hand wringing about their choice.

Mmm not sure about that.Trump won't be as bad as people make out and Harris won't be as good, in fact nothing much will change as the US presidency only gives you two years to do anything before you are either a lame duck or busier trying to get elected again before rinse and repeat. Can't see why everyone gets their knickers in a twist about an election that is ridiculously overlong and overblown.
I agree with your point about Putin will be rooting for Trump because if he wins I think Russia will just take the whole of the Ukraine and I doubt if they will stop once they do.Mmm not sure about that.
Putin will be rooting for Trump.
In my view, Trump will be awful for democracy.
IF Trump introduces the tariffs he us suggesting then world trade could be affected.
Trump may not be as bad as we fear but will be a disaster.
I admire your optimism. After he was at least somewhat held in check last time by having long term White House advisors and experienced Republican politicians moderating his wilder excesses, he has basically said that this time he is going to fill the place with people who will just do what he says. And if you have paid any attention at all to some of the stuff he has said in the last few weeks, that is very worrying indeed. I hope we don't have the chance to find out.Trump won't be as bad as people make out
