I’ve never rated ruffles. he gets done too easily, too often and can’t stop a cross. The amount of times the centre half’s have to deal with a ball into the box that should never have got there! To be fair he has actually improved in this area this season I hope he continues to do so. Now with Claire on the other side and we’ve lost Dickie from the middle we’re conceded some bloody stupid goals. Now if you lose to great play then there‘s nothing you can do about that but gift stupid goals as we have been doing and it’s going to be a long season.
I think it's a case of heart over head with Ruffels. He's been a great servant, never stops working and scored some key memorable goals, but there is a reason he is regularly targeted by the opposition.

Congratulations in spelling the name correctly for the player that's left!!! Are RUFFELS and CLARE really that hard to get right?!

Elliott Moore is no Rob Dickie. He doesn't seem to have those natural leadership qualities that Rob had when he stepped into the role. The lack of coordination and apparent communication at the back suggests it is crying out for some voiciferous leadership and I am not sure where that will come from as none of the back 6 (if you include Eastwood and Gorrin) seem to be the type.

Maybe they just need more minutes together? They have had precious few as the first choice back 6 so maybe that is why they don't really look like a unit. We can see the individual limitations (and qualties to be fair) but I think it is fair to say that any decent defence HAS to be greater than the sum of its parts....that needs a fair amount of work right now and practice makes perfect (in theory at least).

Eastwood no, but Gorrin went crazy at the defence after their first goal and the chance they had just afterwards. It was promising to see that someone was taking control of the back line, even if it was the holding midfielder.

I don't think it can be understated how much we've missed Gorrin. Despite his play off performances, Kelly just doesn't cut it for me in that role and needs to be playing further up the pitch. It was a joy to watch Gorrin prowling in front of the back 4 on Tuesday, he almost seems to glide across that section of the pitch and reads the game so much better than Kelly.

I agree! Gorrin is the player that sniffs out danger, and so often takes one for the team. We’ve missed him in that holding role. I personally think he has been the biggest miss so far this season.
He also breaks up the oppositions attacks, and set us off up the pitch. My favourite player at the club.

I’ve seen a lot of stick for Clare & Ruffels and absolutely none for Elliott Moore. He hasn’t stepped up so far this season and i’d put a lot of the back 4 problems down to him. He isn’t a good enough replacement for Dickie at the moment.
Let’s not forget Moore had a stop start pre season due to the loss of his dad. There are more important things then football, maybe he’s not 100% focused on just football atm could hardly blame him.

I actually think we could do with a powerful leader in the middle of the park. Assuming we’re without Cam for a little while I think it would help take some of the responsibility off Gorin. We have a lot of pretty players in the middle of the park wouldn’t hurt us being able to mix it up against certain teams.

IF Cam can ever play again.

I was hoping McGuane could be that player but judging by Tues night he actually looks quite handy out on the left wing although not quite living up to expectations. If the news is as dire as some of the whispers coming out of the club, we may have to start looking for Cam's long term replacement unless a contract with Sykes is sorted out and he can step up.

Sadly this may be very close to the truth. Nothing said so far has given any encouragement. Must be devastating for Cam. Fingers crossed he can get over this episode and not suffer any long term damage.

Absolutely awful for someone who has taken the club to heart and clearly loves being here. Undoubtedly one of the most talented footballers to ever play for the club, a real coup from day one and someone who could have worked his back to the top of the pyramid (hopefully with Oxford).

What's the latest with Cam? Not seen anything since he was discharged.

Was looking at out of contract defenders, Ryan Shotton was being mentioned by other clubs. Namely Brizzle C.

I know as little as the rest of us but, having had some close experience of eye problems (not my own) and knowing how delicate anything related to the optical area can be, and then taking into consideration that Cam was admitted initially, I would suspect that he has gone through a fairly serious episode.
Even if there is no permanent damage I would suspect that he will require some time before any sporting activity is resumed.

I have limited experience working in an A&E type setting but any conditions secondary to infections are never good. Jamie Brooks and Guilliam-Barré being one example. Hopefully Cam can make a full recovery and we can see him in yellow and blue again.
