So after weeks of being told by the usual suspects that all was well and that the key date of Jul 1 would serve as the catalyst, we’re no further forward. We have a manager who’s increasingly desperate and resorting to name dropping. An owner who spouts fantasy whenever he’s asked.

It’s precisely the same as last year and incredibly disappointing.
Sounds like a s**t opinion rather than fact.

This Cadden move is all a bit strange isn’t it. Columbus Crew now have a slot available for an overseas player so surely if they have signed him they would just keep him?

Spot on.
At least we now know that none of our fabulously wealthy directors are going to make any significant investment in OUFC. We need strikers and centre-backs but we don't seem able to offer an attractive wage.
We'll see a flurry of loanees immediately before the start of the season, after the pre-season games when a team is supposed to gel, and hit the ground limping, like last season.

Not spot on though as you dont know.

I'm not sure KR has namedropped any brand new potential player this summer? Every named player we have been linked with has hit the media as a rumour first.
The only ones he specifically mentioned were ex loanees.

Cadden Wilson Findlay have all featured in Scottish media before any comment from KR.
Evans appeared on twitter before KR made any comment.
Then some haven't been mentioned by KR/Oxford media at all - Grant.

If Cadden is joining us on loan, I can't really see him staying till May, missing 2 months of the MLS season, and then having no rest before joining up with them. A loan till January would seem more sensible for both the player and Columbus, if they're planning to have him in their team.

Just a piffling £500k offer on a centre half if the reports are true. Also, agreed around £200k compensation for Cadden, another piddling amount. Not significant at all.

Do we really need more wingers? Got to say it is ridiculous we’ve played four friendlies without a single fit striker at the club. Just some chunky guy from Shrewsbury or wherever would do for a start!

I would say one more winger yes. Hope Hall stays fit but history says he won't. Whyte will miss games through international call ups too.

That’s rubbish.

Things have clearly moved forward in July and I’m pleased to hear that recruitment meetings are ongoing and the quality of names we are linked with. Robinson was just updating us fans on targets that we’ve become aware of - hardly name dropping. Free transfers from Dagenham or wherever take two minutes, trying to convince international players like Cadden that L1 Oxford is the place to be takes more time.

This time last year our great centre forward hope was a kid from Reading. This year it’s a Welsh international who has scored goals wherever he’s been and is among the very best strikers L1 will have to offer.

As I say, you’re talking absolute crap if you think it’s exactly the same as last summer.
