Things absolutely everyone on this forum knows, whether they are a positive or negative poster:

- We need a striker (or two) and a centre back (or two).

- The sooner you can get a player in during the summer, the better to ingratiate them in the squad for morale and tactical cohesion.

- Missing out on a full pre-season will hinder any arrivals for the first couple of months of the campaign.

- Recruitment issues last summer was one of the reasons for our awful start to the season.

People are spouting these every 5 minutes like it's something the rest of us just don't know. But we do know this, we know all of it. The more positive among us also know the following:

Things that I'm not sure all the negative posters do know:

- We are absolutely trying our best to get a striker (or two) and a centre back (or two) into the club.

- Alex Gorrin is probably as vital an addition to us as a striker and a centre back. The holding midfield position revitalised us twice last season.

- July is always the month when the volume of transfers ramp up. Just compare the difference in the BBC Transfers page.

- The way to bring very good players in during May and June is to offer well over the odds for them. We don't want to have a reputation as a club that will do that.

- There are so, so many free agents that still haven't got a club. This is just an indication of how much negotiating they still feel they can do before needing to make a decision.

- There are 11 other clubs who have done as much business as us, or less, in the league so far.

- No one has been sold (so far), and the likelihood is we'll turn away any offers that aren't for silly money.

- When the recruitment board come together with Tiger, it's not a case of being told we have less money to work with. We would have had a minimum budget set at the start of the season, we're going to be asking if we can have any more to get certain deals over the line.

- We had to do far more work on recruitment last summer than is required this summer. For all the complaining, it's only over three incoming players required in the next four weeks.

- Loans come late. That's just the way it is. Most Premiership/Championship clubs need to know what their squads are looking like ahead of the new season before letting the unrequired players go.

- The names that we've lost out on, or are in talks with, form a small part of a much larger list. And the only reason Robinson is doing any talks on transfer targets, is that they've already been heavily leaked. He's generally been much better at keeping cards close to his chest.

- There's nothing we can actually do, except wait for the klaxon to go off. Why spend that time feeling constantly miserable?
Good sense but I fear it won’t shut up the ITKs and the “We need a .... and we need one today” bores.

This is a forum where people are free to post opinions, rumours etc. That is what it's all about. As long as it's all done without offence within the rules I don't have a problem. There is the odd bit of rubbish posted but just ignore it and move on.
If the ITK's and 'Needy' people all shut up this forum would be half as busy!!
Live and let live and let people have their say.?

I think Beyond was referring in large to the endless repetition of sentiments that have appeared on this forum since the end of May. Nobody wants opinions suppressed but please stop repeating them!

Sensible post. At last.

Things that I’m not sure a positive poster would know.

- Just because someone posts a concern or a comment that isn’t 100% supportive and complementary of our club, manager, chairman it doesn’t make them negative.

- Transfer windows are sometimes one of the most exciting times for a club and it’s nice for fans to express different views.

- After last seasons start and window and the similarity to this one only a fool wouldn’t have a little nagging doubt.

- Why would a negative poster not understand some of the most simple and obvious statements you’ve made about the transfer activities of a football clubs.

- it’s likely hardly anyone on this forum would be close enough to Tiger, the board or KR to know what our financial situation is or if Tiger is going to tell KR he’s got more money, less money or no money.

- I’m very bored

You're quite right on all of those points. I didn't mean to condescend.

We can all agree that everyone on this forum is very, very bored at the minute. It'd be nice to get this thread back to speculating on the sort of players we'd like to sign, rather than the repeated anxieties of how badly we're going to do without a defender or striker.

In that vein, I'll try to be more productive. I hear Fiacre Kelleher and Jon Obika are still available. Might be worth seeing what they can do for us?

Tiger says in ifollow interview, we are very very close on 1 player that will be in next week. Then speaks about only needing 2 more within the next few weeks. Suspect he is referring to permanent transfers and not including loans in this otherwise we will have a very thin squad with international duties and injuries which are inevitable.
