Training ground

There seem to have been significant problems and delays with the training ground project with only last week Robinson moaning about the state of the pitches.

This must have had an impact on our abysmal start. Who's running the project day to day, why have there been so many delays and problems and when are they going to get sorted? News and comment please.

When did he say this?

The other week in an ifollow interview he praised the training grounds groundsman.

If you drive round & look at it you'll see what he means. Poor surface that suffered due to the prolonged dry weather.
Our MD Niall McWilliams is currently on site with a fork trying to improve things! Complete shambles!

If it was down to the weather then it is out of the club's (or contractors) control so how is it a shambles*?

Do I remember correctly that Thames Water were late in connecting the water supply or dealing with the nearby long running leak on the road next to the site?

*Apologies if I have it wrong but your post reads to me as the shambles is due to the club.

Would be interesting to know the truth about the Thames Water saga.

I follow the training ground grounds man on Twitter. He posts pictures of him working on the pitches nearly 24/7 seven days a week. Not sure there’s much more that can be done. The weather was definitely a factor. Don’t know if more could have been done planning wise beforehand as well.

Sorry but the 24/7 three days a week comment reminded me of when I saw a cafe with a sign saying "all day breakfast - served in till 11.30am!!!"

It sounds a reasonable 'excuse' if the players have to train on dodgy pitches with holes in them!

Seemed alright a few weeks back when we were on a minor high as Robinson seemed to insinuate the fact that we were back at the training ground led to this minor up surge!

LikecI said, would be nice to know the truth about the Thames Water supply saga, especially as I know Scott (groundsman) was highlighting the fact he needed water for the training pitches enhancement!

Gobbo was talking up the new training ground as the best in the league a few weeks back. A bold statemen,t given Sunderland's facility and the fact that Burton train at St George's Park, but I understood his arousal. But anything to deflect the blame from his own short-coming I guess...

Is there hot water for the showers now? or is the plumbing bill still unpaid as was rumoured

Probably not as Tiger doesn’t want to get himself in to hot water again for non payment of bills!
I understand that Wrexham trained there and went back to hotel to shower . Blackpool turned down the chance to train there when they found out there was no hot water .

We all have to accept that there appears to be a major cash flow problem, as well as a lack of financial investment, I cannot see the end to these problems unless we get at least a £M5 investment to cover players and running cost,.
