Tinpot Reading

I’ll go further. Oasis are s**t. Manchester is also s**t. People are conned into thinking that it isn’t by others that grew up there, left as soon as they could, and still won’t shut up about it.

London has contributed more to music. But London deals with higher expectations, because it is a vastly superior city.
Nah I like Manchester, London is obvs ten times bigger and richer but Manc has a lot of character and also plenty of personal connections for me, not to mention the great bands.

Yeah I like Manchester as well, we try to get up there a few times a year to see a gig and have a night out.

I'm leaving for there is approx ten mins. I'll let you know (although I'll be spending the evening in exotic Preston)

Empty pint glass.
In with a bottle of WKD Blue - £1.
In with a bottle of orange Reef - £1.
In with a double house vodka on top - £2.

£4 for a pint of 'Kermit' in Spoons. The best way to start a night out in the early 00's.

See if off, fresher!

The BOP in Manchester served something similar called a Green Monster; a pint glass filled with a bottle of Orange Reef, a bottle of Stella, a shot of Bols Blue and then topped up with cider.

Disgracefully, Claridges refused to mix one for me when I requested it.

Tony Wilson band weren't they? Pretty sure they were one of the early Factory Records signings. Think I first heard them through John Peel playing them.
I think we have established this before but we are both fans of the band Doves. Very underrated

I heard Doves described as 'The best band nobody has heard of' online a few months back...
In my friendship group we all f*****g loved them from the start. I find it very odd indeed that Elbow were more successful.

Gomez are also very underrated. Their first 3 albums and the B side / rarities album are all brilliant and they're phenomenal live (although I always wish the crowd would get more into it).

I preferred them as Sub Sub!
Ain't no love (ain't no use) would still be in my Top 3 'Tracks to get me on the dancefloor' to this day

(not that anyone would want me on the dancefloor......long since passed into 'Embarassing Dad Dancing' territory.........)

Me and my friend interviewed Jez Williams just after There Goes The Fear was released. He was very friendly and took our question about the release/deletion of the single being a cynical marketing ploy in his stride. Afterwards he introduced us to the rest of the band once we had finished.

You missed the best Manchester band of the lot: Van Der Graaf Generator

If Exeter get an equaliser in the last 10 minutes against Stockport., Cardiff could be the 2nd team to secure promotion at Reading this month.
