Born in the 60s then your musical awakening was probably the 1970s... I don't think you can claim any sort of musical high ground from that decade. Apart from Bowie of course.

A lot of that does nothing for me, sorry. I've already said Bowie, who was just a legend. I like The Clash, The Jam, The Specials, and mentioned Joy Division in the post before yours. The rest you mention? Nah not for me. There was undoubtedly some excellent stuff in the 70s, but a lot of dross too (guess you can say that about any decade to be fair).
Another to add in, 'Who's Next' is a great album. Steve Marriott was also bloody good.

1. Robson and Jerome were #1 for 13 weeks during 1995-6
2. Oxford were nearly pushed to extinction after the collapse of Maxwell
3. Apart from when it crashed in 1992
4. A lot of it was heavily inspired by a 60s and 70s revival

Don't get me wrong - very happy that I was growing up in the 90s, and there was some absolutely brilliant music being written and recorded. But the best-selling mainstream stuff was generally God awful! I would genuinely rather listen to Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran or someone scratching their nails down a blackboard.........
