Tickets Tickets? WTF?

IT Outages bother me.
AI bothers me.
WIFI going down bothers me.
Reliance on satellites bothers me.

Tickets problems will seem like a pea in the Ocean when we all 'lose' our investments, and pensions. And we have to pay ransoms to hackers to access our dosh.

When that time comes cash will be king again.

In the mean time has my car charged as BT WIFI keeps dropping?
Often thought this that if you really want to disable a company or country for that matter. All you have to do is disable the internet or satellites bringing them to a halt.

In business I see the triplicate book making a comeback 😀

Well it shouldn't be for a pre-season match between Oxford and Southampton which will have a handful of people online at any given time, it is to handle the flood of server requests you get when 200,000 Taylor Swift fans all try to connect at once to get tickets. Guessing we are using a standard back-end for our ticketing system, although you'd expect to be able to turn off the option.

I was thinking about this yesterday.

Leaving aside the outage, I don't get it. Back in the days of old-school (SS7 signalling) telecom (early 2000's)I sold systems that delivered thousands of SMS per second at peak times (New Year's Eve, declaration of Ramadan, Eid etc) which involved 1. get SMS in, 2. ask HLR where the recipient is and status info (blocked, shadowed etc), 3. receive answer and process it, 4. put SMS to outward path, 5. store / send billing info to billing system. Must have been a balance check for pre-paid at some point in the chain as well, Etisalat being one of the customers.

Ah, the good old days. Minimal management required to secure SS7 networks (access and performance) unlike today where it's all on the internet and nobody knows what's going on.

I will also say things like this but in reality if the s**t hits the fan, I've got about £25 in cash in the house

I have had 78p in change in my wallet for about 2 years, been waiting for a time I can use it, nothing actually costs 78p or less though.

This thread is not far from one of those ones on social media where someone who works cash in hand says “cash is king” as if it wins any argument, rather than a cause for the tax man to investigate you.

I'm ready for the apocalypse, I've got my rucksack ready at the go 24/7. I've got a big wooden chest full of tins ,pasta ,rice etc etc . I've got all essential survival kit at the ready.
Be prepared as they say.
While everyone is running around crazily, looting & a shooting. I'll be safely hidden in the woods somewhere.. it's coming trust me...
