General THE YELLOW DIVISION - Norwich City Display Fundraiser

Firstly, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to every single Oxford fan that generously made donations towards our end of season displays, culminating in the play-off final display at Wembley which saw the U's achieve promotion to the Championship for the first time in 25 years!

This season, the Yellow Division are back, and we need your help!

After the highs of last season, from the players on the pitch, to the fans in the stands, the Yellow Division will be bringing colour and the noise to Grenoble road. We will kick things off with the first home game of season against Norwich City, live on SkySports.

We saw what was truly possible when the fans are united, and now is the time to take things up a level! All donations will be used to purchase materials, flags, banners and other items that will greatly enhance the matchday experience for every Oxford United fan.
We will be providing regular updates to the fanbase as this round of fundraising progresses.

If you would like to donate, please do so via the following link: https://gofund.me/ebacf7f5

The time is now!

United. Together.

Think we can all agree they’ve earned our trust now ….?
I would hope so, I put my neck on the line saying they're a good bunch and worth getting behind, they've not let me down! Get behind them this season yellows.

Great to have them.
They were really important at the end of last season ' the atmosphere improved massively.
As you say, this season this is equally important

Can I just say that I think these guys do a great job and I will always be willing to donate. My question is do you have somewhere safe to store all the special surfers that you create so they can be used again.I think I remember some story way back about surfers being mislaid or dumped in the empty space under the east stand, which if true is a real shame after all the expense and work that goes into them.Could I maybe suggest that the fantastic ox v Robin surfer ,if still in existence, make a showing now and again what with our increased sky coverage just to show the football world that we still think of the scum.

That could be reused v Bristol city but only as a secondary. We all know the main one needs to be a snake with mannings head on it

TBH the better thing to do would be precisely nothing - we have forgotten him as Des is better. That would rattle his ego more.
You might be right but I think we both know that’s not happening! Even Saturday there was a rendition about him . A good character assassination is the next best option

Gents, firstly, thank you for all of the kind words and positive feedback. Saturday was a perfect day, in more ways than one. As I touched on within the Norwich City (H) thread, this is what Oxford United is all about.

The support of the fanbase will galvanise the players, and we, as a collective, will work our bums off to bring the best displays in the EFL, to the best fans in the EFL, at Grenoble Road!

On Bristol City: No, we will not be doing anything Manning centric. This is the time to back the club, the staff, and the players. Our club has moved on, and I think it would be doing us a disservice to stroke his ego and pay him any attention. We have a tight budget, and as the fundraising is fan-driven, I don’t think it’s a wise/responsible use of funds. As I’m sure you know, we have a couple of chants for him that will get our message across! 😏

@yellowandblue, to answer your question, yes, we have safe and secure storage for all match day materials. As we accrue more, we will need to think of our options moving forward, but for now, we’re sorted with this.

@billyturleyscurlywurly: We have plans in mind for Preston, but we are conscious of the fact we have another televised match, a few weeks later, against Stoke City. Norwich was one of the best home atmospheres in years, and after that performance, I have no doubt that the fans will have the place bouncing - yet again!

Once again, thank you! 🫑

It was absolutely superb

Stellar job @LeftSideBoy and gang! Loving it, and it really makes a difference, not just in regards to the result.

Sadly my father's final match watching us was the last game of the 22/23 season, where, despite having just escaped relegation, something we should have all been celebrating, our atmosphere was pathetically drab (well before Accrington even equalised, let alone went ahead). He loved nothing more than a buoyant atmosphere with loud singing and colour, like the ones we've had recently, and I only wish he were still around to attend just one of them - as opposed to the 2nd half of our final match together only having consisted of a couple of half-hearted "Yellows! Yellows!" when we won a corner.

So please carry on doing what you are, even when displays aren't possible, to ensure fans of all ages get to leave a match, regardless of the score, feeling they've enjoyed themselves.

Would love a massive Triangle one for early next year, in the weeks before the planning decision is decided.

Something really positive and clear in its message - think you’ll get decent money for that display in particular.

Speaking of which, do post the link again for donations as I’m sure many will be happy to donate after Saturday’s surfer.

@Emilio: Wow. Im currently in Marbella and having read your post after a bit of tapas and a few Cruzcampo, I am now sat in bed, feeling rather emotional and incredibly inspired.

Firstly, I would like to extend my most sincere condolences to you for your loss. My Dad (a frequent poster on this forum) is currently experiencing his own health issues, so on a personal level, reading your post, really hit home.

I’m 33 years old (young?) and in my lifetime, I have never felt a connection quite as strong as the one that we have between the fans, the players and Des Buckingham, a manager that I believe can go on to become an Oxford legend - if he isn’t already!

A United Oxford is what we are striving for and after a strong end to last season, Saturday further cemented the foundations for what we want to achieve. Everything that we do as a group is inspired by the memory of fans like your father and the β€˜Forever Yellows’ that are no longer with us, the fans that support the players - win or lose, and the generation of supporters that are soon to follow!

There has never been a better time to be an Oxford United fan and the YellowArmy/YellowDivision will do everything within our power to make every occasion as special as possible for the fans, of all ages, that make this club what it is.

We look forward to seeing you again on the 31st when we welcome Preston North End, to Grenoble Road.

For you, and for Emilio Snr!

Let’s do this! 🫑 UTFO! πŸ’›πŸ’™

@MJB: That’s a great shout, and it’s an idea that I will be sure to run past the YD lads! We will always try to remain apolitical as possible, but given the gravity of the situation, a positive message, delivered in the right way, would only serve to help the cause!

With regards to an ongoing fundraiser, today, we launched a new one. This will help towards future displays, and as always, any generous donations are gratefully accepted: https://pay.collctiv.com/yellow-division-24-25-match-day-fund-23577

More updates will follow in due course.

Thanks for your kind words.

I myself am 34 (feeling less young by the day and each new grey hair), and agree that this is the most special time in our generation's lives as OUFC fans. 2010 and 2016 were cracking promotion seasons too, and we did well to adjust to the new league the following terms, but Championship is a significantly larger step, with the breath of opposition quality and financial standing being extraordinary. I don't believe it's pessimistic to say that I'm sure we will be on the receiving end of a few batterings this season, and what we need to do as fans is support the players to keep them fighting while the going is tough, but also to ENJOY watching football at this level. Not all fans are as naturally vocal and demonstrative of their support, so having some chorus leaders setting a tone can really encourage them to get involved. Let's make this season one to remember!

I wish you and your father all the best at what I'm sure can be a difficult time, and hope your time in Marbella gives you a nice escape. After all the hard work and energy you've been putting into the displays, you deserve a good break (and some nice food!) to recharge your batteries to carry on with your future displays and contributions to the match-day atmosphere!

Yep, can absolutely see why you would want to remain apolitical but glad you’d also consider a positive, non-partisan message in relation to the Triangle too.

And thanks for the link - have popped a small amount in again and would hope others on here will do the same again too πŸ’›πŸ’™

Any further issues dealing with Benson post Wembley?
Thankfully, no. We have people within the club that we work with, so when it comes to displays, for the most part, we’re able to bypass Benson.

That being said, there are plenty of ongoing issues with his involvement in other areas of the club. I have been very vocal about this in other threads, but when the fans are united like they were on Saturday, not even Benson can stop us!

Bring it on.

small donation made- keep on doing what you're doing YD chaps

@chromeyellow: It’s only right that she is given a bit of a send off after all that she has done for the club.

@WuTang has been a big help to the group. Not only in terms of giving the lads some advice and guidance, but for backing us in the public domain! We’ll keep working hard to repay the faith that the fanbase now has in us. Thanks mate.

@Wanderingyellow: This is something that we are discussing with the club. There are supposed EFL rules in place, but we know that other clubs have done this, and continue to do so. There is a historic agreement in place that goes back to the days of the Ultras. This needs revisiting and modernising to fit with the groups aspirations.

@Sarge / @MJB: Thank you both for your donations! Really appreciate it 🫑

Not to put a dampener on things but I would caution against hiding the amount raised so far like seems to be the case on https://pay.collctiv.com/yellow-division-24-25-match-day-fund-23577

I've no doubt that these lads and ladies are an honest bunch but we've been here before

Should think it's better to be open and honest with how much folks have donated
