New Stadium The Triangle - Planning (S106 Agreed)

For me this disappointment in the design is the consistent height around the ‘bowl’ there is a lack of premium seats on the halfway line on both sides and too many in the corners. I would prefer the corners came down and the sides went up (like Brighton)

And we're off... just getting so close to shovels in the ground and now the moaning can start about all the stadium design faults.

Perhaps start a new thread a soon as fosb have run out of appeals.

Then people can fill their boots for another 2000 pages if they want.

Enjoy.

So when fosb moaned that the set up and take down of the road closure would take longer than 5 minutes

I fully expect the road will be closed off with one of these at both points just not on a grand scale as Windsor castle
On and there roads are closed twice a week for an hour dont think the residents moan

Can't please everyone.

Right I think ive finally figured out the timeline for this appeal

Fosb apply to the Court of appeal

That is then checked to see if it has any merit to proceed
If no thats it end off
That takes 2 weeks

If yes it moves to a full hearing its not read on papers again
That will take a while

Who is it that does the checking. Another judge?

Dear Suzy

Many years ago in the 80s we worked for the same company (OUP). You will know full well from those days that many of the blokes and women there were Oxford United fans. And many of those still are! Going to see OUFC is when all those ex work colleagues of yours get a chance to catch up and chat old times. Football brings that togetherness. It’s a human tribal thing. Your role in the company was in a way keeping that harmony. OUP was an incredible place to work for. Memories that come together at the football ground. And in particular many workers came from Kidlington, Jordan Hill and Wolvercote. So there has historically been a very strong base of Oxford fans in the area. Now we have their families coming along, many from Kidlington. So many years of history. It’s almost like Oxford is coming to the fans home now.

So please, have a long hard look at the emotions and history and future this club has had and can have with this stadium and the joy it will bring to local residents.

Thanks for reading.

Remember what we are shown at the minute is just the first iteration of the stadium. Should it get built there will be ample opportunity in the future to expand it as we see fit and if necessary.
Interesting. It’d be good to see a 20000 + crowd there again
I thought the potential expansion was for another 2000 or so in future. Possible that this fits with the original scope of the stadium being 18,000, which was then reduced to 16,000 during the pre-app design stage.

16,000 feels about right for us now and an extra couple of thousand will be a good (albeit costly) option in future. Would be nice to have even higher capacity options, but we are we are (hopefully!) and I think c.16-18k will serve us well.

Who is it that does the checking. Another judge?
A Lord or Lady Justice of Appeal (a senior judge who sits full-time in the Court of Appeal) reviews the papers. In some instances, a High Court judge authorized to sit as an additional Court of Appeal judge may be assigned

Whhhhhooooaaa hold on that is some confession 🤣🤣🤣

But very well said

Justice of the Appeal Court is the second highest ranking appointment in the judicial system - only Justices of the Supreme Court sit above them.

Good to see occasional Oxford resident Rowan Atkinson’s most famous character, Mr Bean, there.

A socially inept, selfish and self absorbed figure of fun who gets himself into various faux pas with the public, Ian Middleton is a councillor in Oxfordshire 😉.

Bet she was fun at the Christmas party

Greatest or respect to PP, but how convinced are we that this can be done ‘inside two weeks’? That would be magnificent if it can be done in that time.

Also, first mention of an ‘extension’ to where we currently play from PP too. Hopefully that can be arranged too. We’re going to need it, I feel.

Inside 2 weeks refers to stage 1 of the appeal process. Somebody will look over the case (as gate keeper) and decide whether there are genuine grounds to pass on to a lengthier full appeal process. (To challenge the two previous judges and whether they incorrectly applied the law). At this stage its got nothing to do with woodland. This appeal is all about the fact McIvor hates the word no - and thinks the Judges have made a legal error.

Pretty clear a Kassam extention could well be in the pipeline, especailly with FK in attendance and with Dusan last week.

So they have 14 days to file papers and then the CoA have weeks to make a decision whether to quash the claim or move forwards?

No FoSB have already filed the papers - the 14 days is the time permitted for the 'gate keeper' to decide whether to allow a full appeal.

Fingers crossed, they'll conclude the 2 Judges have made no legal error and throw the whole thing out - for good. (with no full appeal allowed)

So when you lodge your appeal its a maximum of 3 pages setting out why you think the judge was wrong so its not like the 1000+ pages the last 2 judges had to read
So I can see it can be done in 2 weeks but at a guess maybe a month is more likely

its done for this very reason to weed out these pointless attempts
Its cost fosb basically a grand £600 for to lodge it and a hours worth of leigh day time so you can see why they have done last bit of the £50k

I'm not sure they have filed the papers as such, they have filed an appeal which a gate keeper will decide within 14 days if there are grounds for it to proceed to a hearing. FOSB will then file the papers with their evidence in readiness for the hearing which would be a few more weeks later.

Woah, I never knew that! My grandad lived in Jericho and worked as a compositor at OUP from the 20s to the 50s. Although an Oxford City fan, he would be turning in his (North Oxford Cemetary) grave now if he knew what was going on, especially after Brasenose College made City homeless.

This is the part that worries me somewhat, looks like FoSB were ready to walk.
Leigh Day persuaded them otherwise, they must have something to take to the table.

No chance were FoSB going to walk when they could continue to delay the process regardless of the wording they've used.
