I’ve sent my communication to my MP & councillors. I highly doubt Olivia Bailey, MP for Reading West is hugely invested - but tried to tie my wording into the recent plight of Reading, the horror the people of Reading expressed at the potential loss of their football team, and the very realistic prospect of the people of Oxford/Oxfordshire suffering the same fate if the stadium is not approved.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it, a "cowpat development" is a term being used to describe housing estates which have just been "plopped down" on greenfield sites, completely separated from the local amenities and facilities with no thought of how they might be integrated into the adjacent community. Typically, residents in these areas find themselves unable to access the nearest schools, health services, retail and leisure facilities unless they drive cars, therefore increasing not only their personal cost but that to the environment as well.

Far from deriding Heyford Park and their Community Action Group, he has (inadvertently I guess) wholeheartedly supported the comments which they have made!

He thought we were all thick knuckle dragging football supporters who couldn't string a sentence together. His own arrogance and hatred of football and it's supporters drew him to this saga.

I think they thought that football supporters are not intelligent enough to see through their lies and misinformation they didn't think for one second that we would have intelligent people who know there way round a planning application.

You can tell that in how they have flip flopped there way through changing the argument on a whim

First mistake in my mind was calling the triangle a contaminated wasteland

2nd mistake focusing on the kassam stadium licence

3rd mistake calling that poll

4th mistake asking kpc for a grant

5th mistake constantly referring to our owners as foreign investors

6th mistake constantly lying and making it so easy to counter

Had they stuck to traffic and parking it might of helped them from there part its barely been mentioned

Have written to my District councillor, County Councillor and MP and also cc'd in the CDC Planning Committee chair with the following message.

Family members I have contacted have also said they'll do the same.

Look forward to hearing confirmation that others have sent their emails in.

I am writing as your constituent to express this household's strong support for Oxford United's planning application for the Triangle site near Oxford.

While the application will be considered by Cherwell District Council, this is a proposed development which will benefit the wider Oxfordshire community and I therefore hope that you will also support this opportunity.

As I'm sure you will know, Oxford United will be homeless and may cease to exist without the new stadium at the Triangle.

After extensive research, it is the only possible site for the club to play at in future and will bring jobs, investment and community benefits to the county. Locally it will also support local sports pitches and community clubs based at Stratfield Brake through investment by the club, be a sustainable and bio-diverse development, and is perfectly situated by excellent public transport sites which will reduce car journeys (including those made by members of this household).

It will support both the club's men's and women's teams which is important to both me and my two young daughters, helping to inspire them and new generations to be active and have pride in their local community.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make something really special happen for not only Oxford United Football Club but the whole county.

I implore you to publicly support the planning application due to be considered in July.

This whole post would be hysterical if it wasn’t so farcically accurate.

But the above that I’ve clipped out, at its core, remains the most pertinent element even if nobody is saying it out loud. There is a really vocal (and disappointingly large) minority of people Oxfordshire - and everywhere else I’m sure - without an interest in football that fall back on these lazy, outdated prejudices.

It has already cost all of Oxfordshire what would have been a completely transformative, multi-purpose facility which would have benefited Oxfordshire residents of all ages for generations in the form of the cancelled Stratfield Brake project. And if we don’t continue to fight it, it will deprive the entire county of the beloved, historic, community asset that is our club.

I hope we get the green light of course. But this whole episode has been a jarring, nasty reminder of how football fans are still viewed - even in 2025. It’s sobering, sad and incredibly frustrating.

In situations like this, the majority who support it often stay silent—while a loud, negative minority drowns them out. It's frustrating,
 
I’ve also sent emails to both my County Counciller and the chair of the CDC Planning Committee. I’ve kept it succinct:

I would like to take this opportunity to express my full and unequivocal support for the proposed new stadium at the area known as The Triangle near Kidlington.

Rarely does an opportunity arise like this, an exciting opportunity for something to be created that will not only benefit the local area, with its wellness centre, NHS hub and job opportunities, but it will also be something that the whole county can be proud of.

It is clear that during the process, no stone has been left unturned in ensuring that the impact on the local area will be kept to a minimum. It is clear that the benefits will vastly outweigh any negatives, and that justified concerns from some local residents have all been addressed, with as much consideration as humanly possible.

It is also clear that there is no alternative for the county’s sole professional football team. If it is to survive and continue to give pleasure to hundreds of families this must be allowed to proceed.

This once in a lifetime opportunity must not be allowed to slip by. I would please like to ask you to support this exciting proposal.

I feel we’re almost there. One final push from everyone 🙏❤️
