Us youngsters don't tend to vote because no councillors appeal to take our views into consideration, it always seems they want to please the wealthy / elderly few and completely bypass the future of this area.

I was going to vote this time round for an independent but then he had a reform logo next to him on the ballot paper which he never disclosed previously. So I spoiled my paper

If you (not you personally) don't as a block then they will continue to ignore your views.

Hence why policies favoured older voters in national politics.

But it's not so much the unwillingness to get out and vote. It's the fact their isn't anyone promising to do anything for the working class or the younger generation. Alot of the politicians around here are nearing pensioner age and are really out of touch with the youth. Seems to me these days there is little appetite amongst the young to get involved or protest against anything.
The main reason why the Conservatives are doing badly is that most of their votes are from the over 60’s , that figure is dwindling.
So add Reform into that equation and next election they will finish 3rd or fourth
What does a voter do if they feel they cannot vote Labour Conservative/Reform, vote Green, it’s a protest vote but gets you more votes and maybe enough to get elected.
Does show how something like the Stadium can affect the way you vote.
In Abingdon I used to vote Lib Dem because I wanted the Tories out and am a Labour voter at heart. But because of their stance on the stadium I reverted back to Labour because they won’t back us

Agree totally. I am a "Millennial" (I hate those labels) and have very little interest in local politics. My priorities are looking after my young family, I do not have much time on my hands.

To get this stadium built will send a message to the likes of Middleton - you do not mess with our football club and you will be exposed for who you are - hypocrites and snobs.

Fairly common requirement for planning. Our PC got £30K of S106 money and spent it on bespoke oak benches created by a local artist, for people to rest and admire the view from and of, the Chiltern Hills.

The local yobs brought portable barbeques and lit them on seats......

despite the land behind the moors and any subsequent development affecting Kidlington residents ( my sister included- she lives on the moors) much more and potentially on a permanent basis, than a stadium on a small piece of land between oxford rd & frieze way, opposite oxford parkway. Their inaction regarding LBTM development speaks absolute volumes about the pressure groups who are made up of basically the same people.

Bizarrely, if you look at the reaction from groups supporting Stop Oil, Ukraine war and free Palestine, their argument gains traction from their passion and presence, together with the media coverage.

Why don’t we peacefully mobilise as a fan base, supported by lots of colour. Defiant with restraint.
Imagine thousands of us stood peacefully fully kitted out, banners, flags, shirts, scarves etc around the next meeting of magnitude.

Paul Batt’s clear and succinct letter to the OM neatly highlights the key issues and we now know - as if we didn’t already - that the club will be homeless in 2028 making the Very Special Circumstances of relocating to the ‘green belt’ or what now appears to be grey belt compelling.

The joint press statement from OUFC & Firoka is irrefutable evidence that the club cannot remain at the current stadium - Firoz Kassam does not want us to stay.

I would absolutely love to ignore him now, but the little green goblin has been meddling far too much in this process that I won't take my eye off what he's doing until the stadium is built or he is not in position of any power to meddle further.
