Pretty much already been approved hasn't it? I thought the Govt had included it in the infrastructure plan (accepted Thames Water's) a little while ago.

The consultation will be as pointless as those for LTNs and the Congestion Charge.

I'll just add I'm not against it but the plans I think need to be adjusted to make it less domineering in the area. Also, full research/confirmation that the ground is suitable before anything proceeds.
Spot on .
I understand the rhetoric regarding nimbys on here, but this is a massive project and ordinary people are understandably concerned regarding the effects on the locality, especially if it is not engineered correctly.
Covering an area equal to almost 1000 football pitches or Gatwick airport and with banking up to 80 ft high !
It would also mean 10years of construction

They're not even building on the garden, they don't even want to look down upon ordinary folk.

Nimbyism is a scourge on society.
Sort of agree, but if no one can object or suggest amendments to a planning application, would you be quite happy for developers to build anything and in any location they choose ?

Oxfordshire is a garden for the rich London elite to enjoy and second home/retire in, they don’t care about the local economy or leisure facilities as they won’t partake much in either, trouble is if you let them take over then you effectively become a second class citizen in your own home.

Some elite NIMBYs here. Published in the Times recently:

Left out Sir Pontsomby Smallpiece-Smythe
and Sir Farquhar Jockstrap-Drew
There are many many NationalTrust and English Heritage properties that have industrial landscapes within their view.
This really is NIMBYism at its finest
Hurrah

Bloody Immigrants, ruining our way of life and not integrating with the local population. Round them up and force them to stay in a Travelodge for 6 months before sending them back I say...

Lord Farquaad from Shrek is said to be an unapologetic p**s take of former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, who fell out with Jeffrey Katzenberg before the latter left to make Shrek with DreamWorks.

The character is intentionally named to sound like "F*ckwad".

I met Michael Eisner, in the boardroom at Portsmouth when we played them. Really nice bloke (for an American) and not at all like Lord Farquaad, so I'd say the pisstake isn't accurate at all.

I'm sure my old boss is perfectly delightful outside of the working environment, but if I ware to create a satirical villain who constantly throws their toys out of their pram, I might well name her "Lady C*ntingdon McTwatface" after our office nickname for her.

There may even bet someone who thinks Middleton is a "Really nice bloke"...though you may be hard-pressed to find them!

I would say if someone is a twat then they are a twat, whether it's in the workplace or not.

I think in a high-pressured corporate environment, it's very easy for subordinates to hate their CEO. Doesn't meant that person is equally as demanding and impatient outside of work to other people they've only met at an unrelated sporting event.
