Non-League The National League Cup

Looking at the teams entered I am assuming Barnet said no (might be others?) So fair play to them for not giving into the glamour of playing Stoke under 21s and most laughably of all a Reading side who somehow are still involved at that level of academy football despite not having a pot to p**s in.

Won’t even be much use for the premier league youngsters, playing the odd game against a squad player from the team that came 20th in the national league isn’t going to help much against when you are up against Man City, I don’t think Wayne Rooney would have developed any better had he have played 90 minutes against Phil Trainer.

But this is more about clearing the way to get b teams in and essentially kill off the best football system (FL and pyramid below it) in world football for the sake of a few rich clubs greed.

With the new Everton owners, that 10 out of 20 current Prem clubs with American ownership or majority stakeholder. They want a closed off franchise system with no relegation from the top.

Crowds of between 170 to 470 even at reduced prices (Woking charged £8) from those I have seen, not that it will bother the prem teams entering the kids in it. The scores are not easy to find, no coverage on Sky or BBC website etc. The money being offered to non league teams seems a pittance as well, £10k for the group stage, considering they have to play home games that might well cost money to host with those crowds.

Ahh, so that's why the National League wanted rid of FA Cup replays weirdly...

I thought this was what the FA Trophy and the FA Vase (before National League no longer participated) was for?

I saw that there was a change of eligibility for the Vase in 2004 but wasn't sure who was eligible before then.

Probably because of the changes to the pyramid. Think the Vase has always been for clubs below the top two tiers of the non league pyramid although even though they have simplified it I still find it a bit confusing as it splinters off into to different regions.
