I didn't see it like that. He has played the game himself and can see the game from a non fan point of view. We were leading by 1 goal, there were 10 minutes to go and Blackburn had just rolled the dice bringing on alot more attacking players. Bloomfield decided to counter this by shoring up the defense and making us more compact to protect what he had. He could of went the other way and countered it by bringing on more attacking players and turn it into like a basketball game but I'm sure everyone including George would of moaned at that decision had we conceded a goal by players not being in position to defend.

Apart from Cumming coming way off his line and dropping the ball in the area which led to the scramble, Blackburn never looked like scoring.

Whilst I agree with all of the above, you have written it in a very clear and calm way. Ben was unable to get his point across in the same manner. I think he reacted to George's opinion (and it was just an opinion) far too strongly because he was trying to protect his mate. There's really no need to do so when everyone is agreed that Bloomfield is doing a good job at present.

He was just presenting a different point of view. It was George who seemed unable to take someone not agreeing with him and who had a meltdown about it. I actually dislike defensive subs in that situation and think it invites pressure but I don’t have a problem with Ben defending it. George could have just accepted that some people see it differently and moved on

Ben sounded like a teacher trying to get his point across to a kid like Kevin the teenager. 😁

for a longtime I’ve hated listening to Ben Putkiss - he’s is dire to listen too, always negative and under no circumstance able to comment on Oxford. Bang average player who did nothing here and he doesn’t appear to be an Oxford fan so why have him in the show!!? Almost anyone else would be better!!

I think he’s a very intelligent guy.

We're spoilt for choice of OUFC podcasts.

The Dub can be fun, and you get the added benefit of Jerome's ITK insights and a former player (albeit not the most exhilarating one). A bit brief at just about the 20 minute mark.

T'Manor and Fence End are both great for their group dynamic and discussing recent and upcoming matches, as well as news such as stadium developments. Big fan of both.

Behind The Badge is excellent for getting to know the individuals who contributed to our club's history (I was listening to their Malcolm Elias interview episode while cooking dinner last night).

You Are My Oxford is a couple of nice guys touching on recent matches, while mostly exploring our past (though as some episodes are best enjoyed on YouTube to watch the footage they are referring to, you might want to set aside time to watch them as opposed to having them on in the background while walking to work or doing household chores).

@OxBlogger is probably my favourite pod, and is excellent for general OUFC chat and nostalgia, and they're also a funny group to listen to. Just wish they released episodes more regularly though (hint).

Agreed. I don't even think of You Are My Oxford as a podcast - I can't imagine only listening to it as I have only ever watched on YouTube!

Ok so don't get the issue, 2 peps having a disagreement over a game- happens 1001 times at Kstad!

I get Ben's point re changes , as MB said they played deeper than he wanted, but also he is to blame for not getting across they need to move up.more

Thank you for watching!

Please watch and listen! We need the hits! We try to make it work for both because you'll be surprised how many people just don't do YouTube.

Next episode on Sunday, We have a mystery guest and a new game. It'll be a banger.

Many "podcasts" have moved away from a purely audio format, but there hasn't really been a standardised name for this. The more common ones I've seen are "vodcast" and "enhanced podcast", but generally they are still referred to as "podcast" or just episodes on a YouTube channel, or possibly a recording of a livestream on something like Twitch.

Bloomfield’s comments are a little bit disingenuous in my view, no manager/coach is going to say they deliberately set out to defend deeper and invite pressure, but when you put on a defender (Spencer) in place of an attacker (Mills), take off Donley (attacker), Konak (athletic midfielder) and replace them Vaulks and McDonnell (defensive midfielders) you’re sending a clear message to the team. Hang on to what you’ve got.

It worked out against West Brom, it didn’t with Charlton.

While George and Ben scrap it out, Over at You are my Oxford, we're on Episode 20 of this season already and still knocking out bangers.

Or in this case, Banger.

We review results, debts, shirts and a lot more. And move over Jon Narbett, there's a new game in town.

Plus we meet former Oxford United forward Nicky Banger who gives the inside story on that FA Cup penalty heartbreak against Chelsea, plus a whole lot more in a lovely, hilarious interview.

His missus - Marina Purkiss - is a million times worse!

Mmm.
Not sure it is necessary having a go at The Dub

Very interesting section on the stadium financing and certainly eye opening. If it is funded by a mixture of debt and equity how is the debt element repaid…..
