General The Championship - What to Expect

Eye-watering matchday prices at Hillsborough.

6 pricing categories and they still don’t get the cheapest adult match day tickets under £30.

A lot of clubs use catergory a,b,c etc, guessing we will be the second from bottom or lowest category depending on whether the lowest one is just for cup matches.

The U’s have only played 14 league matches against Burnley in our history plus 3 FA cup matches.

So they have a section called 'Played for Both' in which they include Ashley Barnes and Arthur Gnohere, who between them hardly played for us at all, but ignore Billy Hamilton completely...

They also said we were in non league for five years. It was four. It felt like a bloody eternity, and seems a lifetime ago now, but it was only four years, not five.

I think Des and Ed have gone about this the right way, we conceded more goals than both Pompey and Derby last season.
Once the midfield was organised after the Bolton game our goals against dropped to only 4 against over the last 8 games.
Adding to that was a must, and all the signings look to improve on that.
Although we scored more than both, the championship is a different ball game, the Bristol City and Coventry games both showed how much sharper the forwards need to be around the box and in the final third.
Another keeper 2 centre half’s, Definitely need proven championships quality up front and bright widemen to add to the decent sqaud being built.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I’ve been working in the City centre for the last couple of weeks, as I have done on and off for years.
It’s noticeable how many more OUFC shirts I’ve seen lately compared to the array of prem teams shirts that are usually on display.
I assume that this is a reflection of Us getting promoted and a general sense of optimism among established and (hopefully) new fans.

NTT20 think we will survive! George Elek distances himself from involvement in the selection.

I've had a weird feeling this evening, like we should be playing some football tonight, and it was weird that we weren't.

Can't work it out. Just one of those things, I guess 🤷‍♂️
Completely forgot about that trophy thing. To be honest I’m surprised we didn’t put our under 21 squad in it.

It’s a shame you don’t get reserve matches anymore. Some of our players would definitely benefit from game time to get their match fitness up. Maybe we will get a few more matches at the training ground to help with this?

Not sure our academy reaches the level required to warrant an invite when you're in the Premier/Championship.
I miss the KR logic of "Well I brought them on for 10mins in a Trophy fixture and they didn't score a hat trick so there goes their chance."

On a (slightly) related note, my 16yo son went to Boardmasters festival down here in Cornwall this month, and reckons he saw more OUFC shirts on display there than any other club, and was greeted by loads of shouts of 'yellows' when he wore his. I don't reckon that would have been the case a few years ago (and still find it a bit weird now tbh)
