If we’re anything like at least one other club I know the kit man will have driven over in advance.
That's happened a couple of times for previous overseas jollies but I think recently him and the kit have gone on the plane

Then given the news from last week you cancel it. Basic corporate comms lesson 1a. Give someone a s**t sandwich, give them a couple of weeks to digest.

“Guys, we are likely going into a League 1 relegation battle as we are selling players we can’t replace. But, the kit is bloody lovely, so at least we will look great losing at Burton”
The hyperbole here is getting out of hand. A pre-scheduled kit teaser isn’t "killing the club"—it’s a business doing exactly what it needs to do to survive.
Think about the logic here: we have a temporary registration pause because our current wage bill outweighs our natural turnover. So, your solution is to cancel the launch of the new kit and turn off the biggest source of summer commercial revenue we have? That is financial madness.
The commercial side of the club cannot pause operations to match the emotional mood of the forum. Squeezing the brakes on retail sales because people are frustrated won't magically make the EFL lift the embargo; it just shrinks our turnover further and makes the mathematical problem harder to solve.

Perhaps as Dusan will be out with the team in Spain ( or so we are led to believe) he will be able to explain to the staff exactly what is going on
Here we are demanding to know answers and the staff don’t know yet because if they did one of our ITK forum members would have passed it on by now

If I was an employee I would want to and expect to know exactly what was happening first not hear about it from this Forum

New kit announcement is to be expected and I bet Wintle should have been at Blenheim sporting the new shirt but alas not to be

But kip's a successful businessman, doncha know (allegedly)

Let's be fair, the optics are awful. But equally, what do you expect the commercial side to do?

Whatever your thoughts on Adam Benson, he'll have a s**t tonne of shirts ordered and a marketing campaign planned and paid for. Ryan and the media team would have scheduled pre, launch and beyond posts across multiple platforms.

And all this will be planned around multiple launches for home, away and third kits, and would need to be synchronised with potential sponsorship events, signing sessions or partnership events with John Lewis etc.

So even if they're all finding this a little cringe, what's the alternative? f**k it all off until Dusan next pops in?

It's entirely reasonable to be pissed off with the club and the leadership at the moment. But I'm glad that they're continuing with Business As Usual, because the alternative is significantly worse.

how much do we make from shirt sales in a year anyone know?

I think we are all feeling a little entitled here.

The communication isn't great, but if there are business sensitive reasons for not going into further details (such as a reorganisation of shares, funding partners for the stadium etc) they may not be able to announce anything.

We cannot realistically expect someone to step up and say something which jeopardises any process that may be happening.

I still firmly believe this is a cash flow problem that has resulted from the stadium (I think they thought the legal process would be over, so they can start capitalising expenditure), the changes in rules and yes some poor management of the squad.

I do not believe this is an existential crisis and we all need to stop going to worst case scenario. Let's be united and back the team!

Entitled? I think fans are justifiably nervous about the situation and are right to demand some answers.

In all of this let’s not forget the staff at OUFC
We are going on as if it’s the end of an era but for them it could be the end of a career
Some people have been there years, take Rosie for example , is he now surplus to requirements?
If they are cutting the wage bill it’s not only those big earners who will lose their jobs
Hopefully it is an injection of cash that is required and everything goes back to normal but whilst we ponder the future of the club they may be having sleepless nights wondering if they’ve got a job tomorrow
Let’s get a bit of perspective here

I think you could be right about what’s going on. But equally we’re entitled to more of an explanation than we got last week, with some reassurance and a positive message about the stadium - if that reflects reality, of course. After all most of us have long memories of previous crises, we’re not gonna be chilled about this!

Yeah, super entitled.

How dare we ask for our club to be properly run?

To be properly funded by the people who are meant to own it and guard it?

And then, when the sh*t hits the fan, to have a bit of communication and respect?

Nothing from anyone since the news broke. Nothing from our Chairman at all since he was appointed.

Do we not deserve better? I mean, we’re asking for the bare f*cking minimum here, aren’t we?

Again Billy, nobody has said this. I respect the amazing work you've done in the stadium thread, and I've personally benefitted numerous times from your calm and positive-thinking responses to some of the worrying on there, as I myself have feared the worst at moments.

In a funny way that communication you've been doing on there is what I am asking for from the club, and I don't think it's much to ask.

I'm certainly not asking for the kit launch to be cancelled, as I said in my previous post, but we need some joined up comms from the club's leadership, to calm the fans and provide some actual bloody leadership!

This is not entitlement, and it's not ignoring the fact that employees of the club are probably even more entitled to worry than we are when their livelihoods are also on the line.

The point is that if we as a fanbase choose to ignore the worst case scenario, and pray for the best in the name of positive thinking, then we are not doing our job as fans - holding the club leadership to account to ensure the club has a future.

Of course this isn't about one little email, but it's a symptom of the entire problem that the club has right now.

ET seems very active on Insta at the moment, shame none of it is in relation to the sh1t show that’s happening at OUFC…really hope we start to get some proper communication and accountability we are not customers we are fans!!

This!

I suspect this is the route cause of what we're perceiving to be radio silence. Nothing can be publicly announced, even suggested, until everything is ironed out.

We'll all know the real reasons for what's happening and why it seems the way it does from our perspective soon enough, I'm sure.

We are bound to be nervous, we all love the club and would be totally devastated if this goes wrong.

The owner on the other hand could probably forget us pretty quickly and put his financial hit down to experience.

Obviously I hope it is merely cashflow and an inability to communicate due to deals going on in the background but I don't think you can blame fans for getting very nervous and upset.

It feels like we've had a letter out of the blue from the NHS saying "oh we found a thing last time you were in, best to get it checked out but for now, DO NOT do any exercise. We'll check it out in your next appointment in January 2027"

Your brain will immediately go to "OMG its terminal I'm going to die" and some people will panic, others go and pay for tests and others may just think ah I'm fine. whatevs.

But we are in the quiet period, we've had the statement, whatever tests we want doing are going to take 2-3 weeks. We are in the dark, potentially terminal news but it could also be nothing.

Its not comfortable, its not pleasant but getting the truth and the facts are the immediate urgent requirement.

I understand why we can't and shouldn't get a play-by-play account from the club on a situation that is one, or or more of a difficult financial / accounting issue, or a sale / partial sale / outside investment, or a major property deal. However, this is where the p**s poor level of communication over the last 2 years comes home to roost. We're used to not hearing anything, so we have no trust in the people leading the club (Chairman we've never heard from across any media platform other than a very basic press release in the 2 1/2 months he's been in post and CEO that was unpopular even where we were promoted and widely loathed CMO who is responsible for kit launch which is probably why anything from commercial team triggers a lot of people).

Very least should have been Williams, or Waldron on a YouTube video as a factual piece on what embargo means and what we can / can't do in terms of player sales out, loans out, if previously announced purchases (e.g. Kent) can be registered and if there are any circumstances around signing anyone whilst under embargo and/or outside transfer window (e.g. if embargo was lifted between 1 Sept and 1 Jan.) Didn't need any comment about why we got there, but just a 'this is what it is' update.

Further to the above post - just something that makes us know the club are thinking - 's**t, we didn't have a clue what this meant, it wasn't in the plans, so the fans will have no idea either.... let's tell them what the football administration piece of this actually means'.
I'd also say that for us to maximise any potential this season - whether that's flighting relegation, pushing for play-offs, mid-table, or god forbid a Sheff Weds style gallows humour season - the club need to keep fans onside, with the idea that we're all co-conspirators in fighting together for the good of the club in what is an unplanned and fairly consequential - albeit hopefully short term - situation. It needs to get us to an 'all in this together, us against the world' situation.
We're nowhere near that whilst we get nothing in terms of comms from the club.

Lack of comms is incredible. Not one to overreact normally, hence my low number of posts, but after listening to the Dub - this could all unwind pretty quickly! Time to protest must be soon?
Correct, we need further info, but then we need to trust that info.

The action of this embargo is a new point in the Oxford United history, the relationship with the managment and owners has changed forever becayuse of this,. They need to face that, quickly.

The longer they stay silent. the more likely that things are proper FUBAR

Very evident from the Dub that the club have gone radio silent.

Robyn really making the point both during & at the end that they’re trying their best to get some comms from the football club.

4 days have passed since a short statement & we’re yet to hear any more details.

Madness too that people are having digs at OxVox when it’s likely they’re in the same boat as BBC Oxford struggling to get anything back.

Dusan was appointed at the start of May. It’s nearly mid July & he’s still not done a video/audio interview with Radio Oxford or even the clubs own in house media.
