What about all the times they succeeded? It isn’t binary.

It’s a cutthroat industry and I’m sure the brothers Short know how it works. Your wish to paint them as failures is unfair, though. They were a part of a L1 promotion team and contributed to our survival in the first season back in The Championship. That doesn’t buy the equivalence of educational tenure, but it does entitle them to more respect than you seem able to give.

My point is that Short is getting more back slapping for his stint of service than Robinson did in a similar period of time and Robinson did miles more for this club than Craig Short. I was on the bus the other day and a boy - can't have been any older than 4 - stopped to say 'thank you' to the driver before he got off. I couldn't believe it. Worse still is that the boy's mother was actively encouraging it. I thought 'that's another young soul corrupted'. Agreed and I'll add one more criticism.

We continue to have part of a fanbase who do want to reward commitment and loyalty, regardless of failures. That's because some want this utopia family football club still.

They cannot accept that the ownership want success and that needs a ruthless approach.

That view is epitomosed by a willingness and acceptance we should play L1 football because beating Burton and Wimbledon feels better than fighting.

Maybe some people would prefer to go back to the days of the chairman buying everyone a hot dog at an away game? Although I am sure Eales ended up getting that thrown back at him in time!
Or maybe have the CEO invite a group of unhappy fans into the training ground to meet them face to face? Oh wait, that still gets thrown back in their face too.

Football has moved on, it's a business more than ever, even in the lower leagues and so clubs don't feel the need to give chapter and verse constantly to the fan base. People might not like it but it is what it is.

I press the stop button at every stop so the driver has to stop even if there’s no one getting off or waiting, why should bus drivers have it so easy? Make them do every part of the job I say.

I think the term was that the ownership of the stadium would be 'wedded' to the i.e common directors who would feel the pain if one entity or the wasn't trading well unlike now where there are no common directors across OUFC and Firoka.

If the club and owners and investors were the same people who owned the current ground, we probably wouldn't be looking to move and instead would have been benefitting from the million pound profits that StadCo makes each year, (after allowing for our license charge).

So we could be back in the same situation where one company owns the football club, and another the stadium. All well and good when there is the same ultimate ownership. But Kassam has shown how to separate that and not to the club's advantage.

Not today it isn’t.
Erick could easily sell the club to for instance Gary Ellison tomorrow. But not sell the company which has the right to build and own the triangle. And then do a Kassam and charge rent to the club. And then Ellison gets bored and stops funding the club. And we get sold on to someone else.

A stadium company has been in place for years so nothing has changed. As I said, the devil is in the detail on the link between stadium and club, but this recent change in the structure of the holding company changes nothing.

Part of the lease agreement with the council is that we don’t end up with another Kassam situation no matter who owns the club.

In very, very basic terms, the club and stadium are legally separate so that neither one can be liable for any debts incurred by the other.
