General The Board & Senior Management

I’ve now listened to the podcast.

Cards on the table, I don’t rate TW, which will come as no surprise to anyone, but f**k me he surpassed himself on that podcast!

From little three sided ground verses big ex prem club Ipswich, to little yellow shirted OUFC staying up against the odds (even though our budget was 15th to 16th), to being unbelievable to be able to take my family and kids to Elland Rd to see OUFC get hammered, to bringing up the 6-0 defeat against Brighton, it was cringeworthy in the extreme.

If this is the message that our CEO filters down through the club, no wonder Rowett kept repeating the “little Oxford” bullshit.

Get this absolute charlatan out of our club now.

PS: I forgot the bits about it not mattering if we get relegated and that we won’t be trying to get promoted when we’re in the new stadium!!!

Tim Williams is a parasite projecting his own fears onto the club.

Get rid asap.

I'm not ITK, but how much did the whole Matete stuff ultimately prevent us from keeping hold of Josh Murphy? Seems to me like we tried signing a camera, an alarm clock, a calculator, an instant messager, a telephone, a newspaper, a calendar and a dating app when we had a very good iphone.

Simile of the day for me, Brian.

I'm not sure it had that much impact, he was offered more money and was looking to leave anyway, but wanted to say I love the analogy. Terrific stuff.

He does seem to have "Done a Ratner" there (the under 30's will have to look it up).

Surely there is a CEO's handbook that highlights the consequences of such commentary....

WHAT!!! Is this some sort of wind up?

Bloody hell our Tim can waffle on can't he. I think in the hour they only managed to ask him about 5 questions.
The more he gives the interviewer time to speak the more chance they ask a question he hasn't prepared for. He's no good if he has to think on his feet or explain some failings without, don't think on a podcast he'd be able to get away with just denying something and then moving on as if the question were never asked.

Unpopular opinioni, but I think a lot of people are being unnecessarily harsh on Tim (and Grant). I understand that when things aren't going well people cast around looking for a scapegoat and he is in a high-profile position, but I think many people are being very simplistic about his role and what he can do to effect events. The hiring (and firing) of managers (or head coaches if you prefer) will always be signed off by Thohir as the main shareholder. He will be advised by Grant, Tim, Ed, Derek, etc but the ultimate decision lies with the owner. Yes, Tim has made mistakes - who hasn't - but these only tend to be highlighted when the on-pitch stuff is a shitshow. Do I think Tim is perfect? No. Could there be someone better out there? Of course. But is he to blame for all the club's ills? Of course not. And yet again, many people make unwarranted personal attacks on an individual they don't like instead of sticking to evidence-based arguments. I thought our fans had more class than that...

You're right in that will be an unpopular opinion.

They've had criticism for the past few years when we've gone from almost certain relegation to League 2 to Championship safety so it's not just when things are going badly. In my opinion a hell of a lot of what we've achieved has been in spite of how we're lead off the pitch and they've clearly made our chances of staying in this division harder both years with transfer embargoes for mistakes no other clubs make and surprise budget cuts. Not a fan of personal attacks but let's not pretend they hold us customers in mugh esteem, they are generally invisible and leave the manager to take the flack and when they do grace us with their presence they don't want to hear any tough questions and will skip past them, deny they know the answer (ask @Colin B about this) and smirk among themselves while they do so. Quite happy to do a largely self serving podcast but silent around trifling matter like the manager at the time is outright saying he doesn't have a clue what the plan is for the crucial transfer window that opens next week. We've had CCJs registered recently for not paying bills as well as power and water cut off at the training ground because we've not paid them either, staff we paid late several times last season. I've said before they've done absolutely nothing to earn any benefit of the doubt from fans.

They've taken some criticism but they've also been shielded from a lot more by on the pitch performance, the only credit I'd give aroudn the football side of things is that they've done well with managerial appointments. Away from that I'd also say we've done excellent work around mental health which as a club and fanbase we can be proud of.

That has been pushed more by Adam Benson and his team. It's a good look and probably an important message but shouldn't deflect away from Tim or Adam being significantly incapable and out of touch (not suggesting you are backing them up, either)

That's rubbish as far as I'm concerned.

I've been consistent in my opinions on TW for well over two years, and that's not just on here, but in person too. I have provided plenty of reasons why over that time, and had plenty of people accuse me of carrying out a vendetta. Interestingly, more and more of those people now agree with me. We can't all be wrong.

Contract length was the issue we run into with Murphy. The fact we didn’t match it looks a very silly decision as he was a standout player in the league last year & is currently their most important player. He’s actually had the captaincy a couple of times this season. We offered more per week than Portsmouth. If only we backed Des and gave Murphy a long term deal, who knows what would’ve happened.
