Sport The Ashes - 2nd Test - Adelaide

Man. Starting to get my hopes up, knowing they'll be dashed in the final session :(

Will go one of two ways...

1) England lose 2 wickets in the first 20mins of the final session.
2) England bat heroically for an hour and a half raising dreams of an amazing escape, then lose 2 wickets in the final 30 minutes of the day with less than 10 overs remaining in the test.

Buttler gone.

Great resistance shown, and he was under a lot of pressure. Battled for over 4 hours out there.

Night watchman Anderson coming in.

Can’t Anderson and Broad say to the umpires we can’t see a thing. Then go off for bad light. It works for Kohli.

All over Australia win by 275 runs.

Anderson edges it and of course it’s taken.

Taking it to the last session is commendable in the circumstances and credit to Buttler for hanging around for a long time but England have scarcely won a 30 minute period let alone a session so far this series.

I don’t see that changing for the last three Tests.

Oh well.

A pity the only time many members of the team showed any application was when the match was already lost.

Now we can have a rest, then tuck in to our Xmas Turkeys knowing that the Boxing Day test is up, with a similar outcome likely. The Aussies will be there in there leviathan MCG, screaming for wickets!

I expect a couple of changes.

Then after the tour I’d like to see Silverwood given his marching orders.

I was going to say 'who have we got over there with the Lions, anyone we can draft in?', then saw the Lions got mauled by the Aussies as well...

Foakes and Bracey scored some runs in the second innings, but nobody else really put up a hand to be considered.

There are a few playing BBL as well - great knock from Sam Billings for Sydney Thunder at the Gabba yesterday.

The risk being bringing in white ball specialists hasn't exactly worked out for us so far.

The changes are likely to be Lawrence, Crawley and Bairstow if anybody.
Plus Wood in for Broad or Woakes. Silverwood and Root dog seen to trust our spinners, so I presume we will go with an all seam attack?

Silverwood has to go ... now

it's looking highly likely it's going to be an embarrassing ashes whitewash

I'd take a battling 3-2 series defeat .... unlikely though it is

They may as well bring in Lawrence & Crawley for Burns & Pope. Pope looks shot, and I'm not sure being anihilated by the Aussies is going to help his development - needs to go away and get his confidence back at a lower level. With Burns, he just doesn't have the technique for Test cricket, and he doesn't have the raw talent to overcome that deficiency like Steve Smith or KP were able to - time to move on.

I don't really see the point in bringing Bairstow back in. We've got to be looking at the future now, and he's not going to be a part of that.
