Watched the game yesterday and thought both showed real promise
If you believe that the new vision today of a full back to be also an attacking player, both looked more than capable.
Did you notice unlike Long, Ruffels and Clare that they actually got the by line to make a cross. Far more dangerous
OK before someone says what about defending - that will come as not overrun for sure.

That’s partly because the system the young lads play and the fact Lofthouse was / is an attacking player naturally often played wise right in a 451.

With Elechi he plays with midfield cover to sit in when he attacks so was / is encouraged to get forward and he also has the athleticism to get back.

Encouraged by both. A slow start (but that goes for the whole team) but as the game went on they got far more involved and pushed forward offering a threat, particularly Elechi in the 2nd half.

Could Elechi now be considered as good enough to cover Ruffles at LB for the season? If so one less signing required and money to be spent elsewhere?

Don't think Robinson would start him there if Josh got injured again, that probably means we would look to bring another player in.

Looked good but would most likely benefit from going out on loan.

If we bring in another centre half then that will be it. Sam Long will be cover with Elechi covering him and Kyran Lofthouse gives additional cover at right back as well. Also, Rob Atkinson could cover as well at left back.
