We aren’t even a championship team the silly t**t 😂
 
Nobody knows about Dagenham and Redbridge, it will take someone much more famous than KP nuts or whatever he is called to change that, a consortium of Hitler, Stalin and Mao back from the grave might shift the needle a bit but anything short of that is doomed to failure.
 
Have to say in the last couple of years I have also seen a lot more OUFC colours out and about. I live in west Oxfordshire and see more U’s kit than all the rest combined. I try and comment when I can ( love your hat, nice shirt.etc….) not so sure we’re such a #teamlikeoxford anymore.
 
A team I'd happily forgotten about! Interestingly, we've always done quite well against D&R. In the eleven times we played them in L2 and the JPT we won seven, drew two and lost two.

Scorers for OUFC over those games include: Robbie Hall, Oli Johnson, Constable, Tommy Craddock, Alfie Potter, Dave Kitson, Danny Hylton, Alex Jakubiak, Pat Hoban :D, Alex McDonald and Roofe. In fact, the last time we played them (2016), Roofe scored a hat-trick.

The first time we played them after returning to the football league, we played in front of a massive 1,921 supporters at their place.

That's about the most interesting thing I could come up with.

It was also our first away game in the conference which we won 1-0 thanks to a Yemi goal.
Team that day: Billy Turley, Eddie Anaclet, Matt Day, Barry Quinn, Phil Gilchrist, Gavin Johnson, Eddie Hutchinson (Chris Hargreaves), John Dempster, Carl Pettefer, Andy Burgess (Yemi), Rob Duffy.
 
Seems that R and D fc are a latter day Rushden and Diamonds. Some progress until the owners get bored or lose more money than they anticipated, then they go bust.

A good while ago I remember both Hornchurch and also Braintree (may have been Basildon?) having 'ambitious' owners who were going to lead the club to the EFL. Where are they now? National league south or maybe lower.

Closer to home there was the American guy at Oxford City.
 
Oops Hornchurch are in national league next season having beat Torquay in south playoff. My point still stands though

Dagenham's (and the numerous clubs they swallowed up) traditional opponents are Oxford City. Just like Wycombe (but easier to get to)

Hornchurch had an ambitious owner and got to NL South then he went bust. But they've come up again, not sure about the current owners. I used to watch them as a kid in the isthmian league when they played the likes of Bromley and Boreham Wood.

I don't think Dagenham went bust, just bad owners and managers.

I remember going into their supporter’s club and there were two men playing a very serious game of chess - you don’t get that at many football grounds.

Think you may be thinking of Billericay Town who spent a bit of money, signed some 'names' them imploded not too long after.

It's even more stark at their place - eight trips there, and we won 6, drew 1 and lost 1......and conceded only one goal!

That being said, that one goal was memorable enough for all the wrong reasons. It's about 90 seconds into the below. Last minute too, if I recall. Taxi for Bevans!

I hardly ever go to away games but was at three in a row there, 0-1, 0-0, and 1-0 with a late Roofe free kick. My parents were living nearby. The ground is small and ramshackle but there’s a posh new away stand with a great view.

That was a grim day - nadir of the Waddock era. Most toxic I've seen the Oxford fans towards the team in recent(ish) years.

Can't remember Matt Bevans at all. He played quite a bit for us as well.
Maybe selective memory from more dismal times.
