We’ve got loads of midfielders. If the management think he should go out on loan to get games then I don’t see the problem with it.
with Woodburn out (wales call up) for 2 matches in Sept , Hall clearly not fit, Baptiste & Thorne not fit, farming Sykes out seems a ridiculous decision, even more so considering the way both Brannagan and Gorrin are amassing yellow cards ... unless theres something happened behind the scenes that isnt (yet) in the public domain?

I can see the reasoning behind it although I was looking forward to seeing him feature more this season. This will be a fantastic signing for a League 2 side.

I am.not hugely surprised and hopefully he will play a lot of games in L2 and get in the team second half of the season.
I saw him in sine pre season friendlies and thought that he was a little off the pace.
Our squad is now far bigger and on paper has a lot of quality.

I'm not sure I want to be annoyed by listening to that sound bite again. 5 minutes of the same evasive and circumnavigating of the question is a waste of 5 minutes.
And, asking about the playing staff would play right into his hands. Perfect opportunity to waffle about what a marvellous job has been done but at the end of the day, we have to be sustainable.

Disappointed for the lad. I was hoping that he would get the chance to play here, not on loan somewhere else. However, if he plays well in his time away then there is every chance that he could force his way back in.

Agree, he seemed to be off his game at the Eastleigh PSF. But then so did all the youngsters.
He should be getting it here.
He is far more useful to us than Hall, and even has more product than Woodburn from what I've seen so far.
Personally, at present I'd have him in the team or squad, definitely ahead of Hall and Forde, and on a par with Woodburn and Henry.
Most of our players were crap in the preseason friendlies.
I saw him a competive game against Peterboro and he was one of the better players. Plus, at the end of last season he was decent too.

Thing is, if he isn’t going to play regularly for us then he is less likely to be selected for the Northern Ireland squad.

You’ve identified the concern but I fear we’re loaning out the wrong player.
Sykes, despite being a late returner for pre season, is fit and raring to go. Baptiste could well be ahead in his return but will need careful management in getting him back playing, Hall is yielding poor reviews after his lengthy return and Thorne is also on the comeback trail.
Why are we loaning out a fully fit midfielder? He’s just the player we need right now.

It will be a good move for him. If he gets game time away on loan, he can come back in January and we'll see the difference with a player who has had regular first team football. He won't improve sitting on the bench or playing for the U23s.

Loan out a fully fit midfielder (with pace) but we sign an injury prone midfielder to replace him (Thorne).

Personally, I see this as a good move for all concerned.
Sykes is a decent player but will only be likely to get substitute appearances at the moment so a loan deal makes sense to give him the opportunity to play regular football. He is still fairly young and has player very little senior football at this level. Getting 20+ games under his belt in league 2 will make him a better player and someone who can come back in January ready to push for a regular first team spot.

Shocking decision for me if anyone needs to go out on loan its rob hall,looked off the pace and scared of going into a challenge, dont get Sykes going out on loan at all!!!

Yeah really not sure about this one. Sykes is a very talented young player that can play numerous positions. He also has the ability to beat a man, which is something we're lacking in the team at the moment.
If someone has to go out on loan Hall would be the most suitable candidate.

Given the performance on Tuesday, I am pretty surprised by this and have been amazed how little he has featured. He does have a bit of pace - something we are sadly lacking - and is fit. Very odd.
