Tickets Sunderland FA Cup tickets

I assumed I read it wrong as it clearly states:

Season Ticket Holders will receive a discount when booking in advance of matchday

Admittedly it's only a small discount but it's not the point
It's similar to the below, from the official website. When I queried why there was no option to buy an Under 7's ticket with a membership discount, I was told "there is no Under 7's membership." No, but there is a Junior Membership which applies to all Under 13's, including Under 7's! I pointed this out to the ticket office in July, when I bought my son a Pompey ticket, but they haven't changed the wording or made a discount available. Annoying that they don't seem to care about accuracy.

Text reads: Oxford United Members receive £2 off for Adults, whilst all other price classes receive £1 off match tickets when purchasing in advance of matchday.

Seems a bit harsh to me. This was from the original flyer on page 1.
OK you had until last Wednesday to keep your reserved seat, but it I would have thought a discount would be applicable anytime up until match-day.

A bit like the people who were waiting til the deadline to take up a new ST in 2024/25 and then found them off sale a week before.

I read that the discount would apply when booking in advance of matchday.....because that's what it says!

The second part of the sentence is an independent clause.

I planned to try sitting in a different location because my current seat isn't great. I was content to let my current ST seat go. It now seems I have to pay the non discounted price for a seat.

They should have said eg "Season ticket holders will receive a discount when booking in advance of matchday, provided they purchase their usual seat before 11am on Wednesday 28 January. After this date, season ticket holders' usual seat will no longer be reserved and normal matchday rates will apply."

Presumably this is what they meant, but it certainly isn't what they said.

Caught alot of people out this from what I've heard, alot were waiting until payday and now finding they have to pay full price.

Bugs the hell out of me when situations arise through poor use of the English language. Misunderstandings can, and should be avoided by the correct use of grammar and punctuation.
Sadly, as we have all seen, the club’s communications are plagued by substandard use of language. Perhaps because I am older and went to school at a time when the three Rs — reading, writing, and arithmetic — were mandatory, I am a little more pedantic. That said, all of this could have been avoided had the wording been applied correctly.

Edited due to my sub standard English!

Shouldn’t that read: “when the three R’s were mandatory”?

Getting caught out by this is likely to annoy fans. Maybe it's only £3 on an adult tickets, but it's like they've taken something away from you. Possibly some fans will see themselves as being ripped off, and decide to do something different on a Sunday instead.
