If he stays in League 1 that’s a pretty good move to be fair. They’re certainly going for it.Just heard Cumming in talks with Rotherham.

I would think that means we have doubts he can step up to the Championship. If we thought he was good enough, we'd have gone straight in with an offer. I thought he was pretty decent, but- like a few other- not sure he's Championship standard. If he does sign for Rotherham, that's an excellent L1 squad Evans is building. Say what you like about him, but he knows how to get teams promoted. He's a much larger version of Neil Warnock. If he stays in League 1 that’s a pretty good move to be fair. Was Evans manager at Gillingham when Cum.ing on loan there?Talks or not, if OUFC decide to put a serious contract offer under the nose of Cumming then i fully expect him to sign it.
Yeah, throwing an absolute shedload of cash at it generally works.I would think that means we have doubts he can step up to the Championship. If we manage to get a fee for him, that’s an excellent bit of business. The piece doesn’t mention?

I can't believe I'm defending Steve Evans, but he does have a brilliant lower league record. Stevenage have a budget of about 50p, and he took them from the bottom of L2 to top half L1 in about 18 months...Yeah, throwing an absolute shedload of cash at it generally works.
Who isn't at this stage?Just heard Cumming in talks with Rotherham.
Stevenage weren't as plucky as they'd like to make out this season just finished. They were paying some sizable wages to get some of those players in and then had to squad fill with older players and risks.I can't believe I'm defending Steve Evans, but he does have a brilliant lower league record. Always really liked the idea of him as a physical but technical CM, but in practice that never really transpired. Thought he looked reasonably good as the RCB in a three, but not enough to suggest he had a long term future with us.
And he tends to leave clubs with expensive older players.Evans has quite a record for quitting clubs. I suspect he does this when they no longer wish to bend to his budgetary requirements.

By now clubs employing Evans know what they are getting, anyone going to Rotherham knows what they are getting as well so it’s a pretty perfect match really, they would be in any acca I do for promoted teams next season.
In fact with Birmingham City seeming minted, Rotherham putting together a league one promotion/Championship relegation dream team that doesn’t leave a lot for the others to fight over, you would fancy Bolton and Plymouth to both get in the play offs again so thank f**k we are not down there next season, happy to see the rest of them scrap it out.
Nobody would have have had Pompey going up automatically last year and Birmingham could do a Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby.By now clubs employing Evans know what they are getting, anyone going to Rotherham knows what they are getting as well so it’s a pretty perfect match really, they would be in any acca I do for promoted teams next season.

Presuming you meant Peterborough, yeah that does look a strong quartet looking to go up. I think Bolton will be strong again. And you have the wild card of Wrexham as well who will have money to splash around.Nobody would have have had Pompey going up automatically last year and Birmingham could do a Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby.
I know that people were suggesting that L1 wouod be a lot stronger next season, but suspect that Barnsley, Blackpool Bolton could be weaker.
