Hah, people on here love to post little cryptic comments to try to perhaps imply that they know something. No evidence is given, so it's impossible to tell if they are a genuine ITK or not. I think only a select few are, based on previous history.
Seems to be a distinct lack of ITKs now, I guess that means the club is being run more professionally

I’m hoping we’ll get some proven quality amongst some of our signings this summer as well as an odd gamble and a youngster or two. I really hope we’re not going to be tied into having to have players with an Indonesian connection and that Rowett and the club can sign players they truly want.

The most important thing is not being tied in to players the owners want as that can seriously detract from what is actually needed to seriously improve us.
I dont think GR would allow himself to be tied in , in this way. Yes maybe 1 or 2 to help with visibility in Indonesia and maybe sponsor increase . But think GR would have more respect for himself than that if so

Gary Rowett has managed 13 seasons in the Championship, and never once finished in the top-six.
I can't work out if you're being facetious. If you look at the squads he's managed, Rowett has consistently overperformed. Who knows what he's capable of with some proper investment in some match winners.

We have to be realistic. We will still get players late in the transfer window, and its possible that that will equate to our biggest deals. Thats the world we live in a few buck the trend with any huge success.

However, I still think that we'll see some movement in the next couple of weeks that will give an indication of the direction we're looking to go in.

Last season was difficult because we needed to spread our limited budget over a much larger group of players. We were also everyone's favourite to go straight back down again, which meant that we were targetting up and coming prospects over established Championship players on the whole.

This season will be different and I would expect us to be looking at players who will seamlessly fit in at this level, and in the style that Rowett is looking for. But this also means that other clubs will also be targetting these same players, so we need to be smart with our recruitment. And that may take a little time or may be dependent on factors out of our control.
Would still be nice to get one or two in sooner that will fit in them I can rest easy

Yeah, it goes without saying that they’ll still be players we sign late in the window, but I’d like to think that we’d get the majority done early on which will give these players more time to bed in, build partnerships around the pitch, gain match fitness/ways/style of play etc.

We could do with getting a good start if possible, rather than playing catch up, hence ideally having a good robust squad ready early on with a couple of late quality additions!!

Don’t want to be like the old days under Karl when he/we waited so long for one particular player that we ended up missing out on other players, plus also picking up the leftover, injury prone players who were left on the shelf!

If Matos does sign, I think he was better in a deeper role rather than number 10.
Agree, he doesn’t have the creativity to play further forward & we will need someone who does. Especially at home,

away I don’t have an issue as he can press high which helps but depends on the state of the game.

I think previously the leaks came from certain people associated to the playing and coaching side, who are no longer at the club. KR himself liked to talk about who we might be signing before we actually signed them, but not all of those signing came off.

Jerome once referred to him playing as a defensive striker (I can’t remember what game that was) when he played no 10. It sounds oxymoronic but I knew what he meant. Basically pressing hard and harrying from the top line.

Anyway, I agree with you. Better further back but can still do a job higher up if needs be. What a great signing he’d be.

GRPlayers are more likely to accept a move out (whether loan or transfer) if they realise they have little to no chance of actually playing, so new players coming in can actually help push players to make the decision to move on, while sitting around getting paid for doing nothing sounds fun it doesn’t help their careers when the contract with us is up.
GR has stated that on the Indonesia trip all current players will have a chance to prove themself to him there fitness and skills . No new intake mentioned so he is,correctly, looking at the whole playing staff and go from there , he hasn’t had chance to see for himself players who have been out on loan only reports! Who knows even Goodwin could have come good !

When he first came u think most of those who were announced didn’t come and that pissed me of poor management.

Not that I’m in favour of resigning our past players (Joey & Moods being the only exceptions), would it be totally stupid to suggest going for Marcus McGuane?

Bristol City have brought in Randell and a new manager, so he might be out of favour, and MM when motivated was a good technical midfielder for us.

Good signing from the point of view that if he had 3 years on his contract I think he’d go elsewhere with the money they would won’t for him.

I’d happily have matos sat deep & have two midfielders ahead of him who have a bit of licence to push forward.

What??? I thought if we didn't have any ITK rumours then the recruitment team were either only looking in the bargain bin or not doing their job
