It's a yes from me.

Will be sought after by many I'd imagine.

I always find Hardie a strange one, seems a bit too streaky for my liking. He managed one goal in his first 21 league games this season. With his second and third goals not coming until February 1st. Ended the season with 10 league goals which is obviously more then any of our forwards will be interesting to see how he does assuming he does move on.

Judging by Rowett’s comments he believes thats a pathway issue rather than the players’ which is now going to change

I'd be interested to know what this 'pathway' is - particularly in relation to two players of a good age with a combined 3 (three) Football League appearances between them?

For context, Gatlin O'Donkor is the same age as both Johnson and Golding - and despite his obvious limitations he has already amassed 78 League One appearances.

Tyler Goodrham is only a year older than the three of them - and by the same stage in his development he had completed two full seasons as an integral part of our L1 side - and was about to embark on a break-through Championship season.

I get it that it's costing a (relatively) minimal amount and we want to continue to develop our own. But we're a Championship club now, and by the time our youth prospects turn 21 they surely have to be a bit further along than Maidenhead or Southend in the 5th tier?

I'd love to see both of them step up, but the pathway to a L1 (or top end L2 at a push) loan already exists? Why haven't we secured them better loans already? They're not kids.

For what it's worth, I think we can often be a bit guilty of mollycoddling 'our own' - after all, Josh Johnson is week older than Alex Matos...

One would assume that this plan would progress their development whether for a higher up loan or into 1st team but it must be thought that they could be assets worth protecting

I wouldn’t mind seeing us sign a couple of young but top end League 2 players, to then loan straight out to League One, similarly to what we’ve done with Currie, where a year later we now have a top end League One player ready to go for us in the Championship.

I guess it’s slightly risky, and hinges on the League One loan being a success, but for a team like us with a slightly smaller budget it is a cheaper way of getting a high calibre player, just a year or two earlier in their career than if we were to sign them directly from League One. If we wanted Currie or similar now, we may be likely priced out, signing earlier from League two gets round this.

The problem will be though that it will take away critical money from this seasons budget, we will need every penny of it I imagine to make sure we stay in the division.

I think the only way it works is if we can pick up players that are out of contract and who we know we can get a vast majority of their wages covered by the loaning team, we can't go spending money on players from League 2 or 1 who we know won't play of us next season in my opinion.

You would hope that our recruitment team have been keeping an eye on which top players in league 1 & 2 are out of contract/not signing a new deal and have already made contact with them.

Usually by now a club will have agreed deals in principles with 1 or 2 players.

May I remind everyone for the umpteenth time , look at Goodwin , so far a 4 hundred thousand pound flop ! We have got to be selective in the transfer window not buy to loan out that’s a risk !

Why...
We sell a so called home grown player it's 100% profit for FFP.
Trouble we've lost sight of this and bar Tyler maybe GOD to a much smaller amount have lost sight of this- Brentford haven't! Nor Brighton!
GR seems to have this in his locker so we'll see
