I can give a bit of genuine insight into this, away from the gossip. A friend of mine from work was actually one of the jury on the retrial. She said it was just a tragic case from both sides. None of us will know exactly what happened, but this member of the jury had huge sympathy for both from listening to the testimonies and evidence in full.

Would be a great addition, though I do understand he left in a bit of a cloud (still not 100% sure what happened), but when we get to the Premier League we need home-grown club players so nice to see we are planning that already

Just heard many different things, I have no issue at all with him personally but that's clearly not the same for many others. His goal vs Wycombe is still one of my favourites.

There is always a lot of talk about local or former players so might just be rumours bit he's deliberately "on the list" and personally I'd love to see him back.

I would be happy with this. A chance to redeem his reputation.
He is a local boy and he absolutely was a good player for us. He has a huge amount of championship experience and seems to be physically fit.
Can play wing back or winger. It would be good for the club.

Hard to argue with his decision when he spent the best part of the next decade in the championship while we tussled with league one. If we hadn’t lost him that year we’d have certainly lost him in the year or two after. He wasn’t the first and won’t be the last to leave a club to the dissatisfaction of supporters.

Am I on the edge of my seat about this one? Not really. But it’s one of those that could go under the radar as some smart business. I just hoped we’d get someone a bit more explosive as I think that’s what the side needs more of, but we do also need someone who can put a respectable cross in so he’d tick that box.

I remember, back in the Conference days, the last game of the season (Northwich Victoria, I think), and saying to my son during the game "wouldn't mind that goalie playing for us next season". He acknowledged both sets of fans at the end of the game and waved to the Oxford fans when he kept goal in front of the East Stand. On the walk back to the car afterwards, there was a big rumour going round that, indeed, Ryan Clarke had signed for Oxford.
