I would probably go 7/10 I think a 3 or 4 out of 5 both feel a bit extreme for me when we didn’t get an energetic defensive mid, which I really did think was important, but overall it feels like a pretty good window with some real quality brought in

Taking into account our limited resources (FFP) I think this has been a good window. BDK looks like he might be a very shrewd investment and we now have proper options up top. The squad has significantly improved in the last 12 months. If we now play with the commitment we showed under GR last season we might create a few more surprises.
I feel quite sad to see Moore leave, it was very clear he was struggling but we probably wouldn’t be here now if it wasn’t for some of his performances.

Isn’t 7 out of ten just 3.5 out of 5?

Fully expect we’ll see a free agent sign in the next week or so (would this mean us not registering someone?).

Overall good window:

GK - maybe could have got one in as cover, but there’s always an emergency loan if needed.

RB - strengthened with Brodie Spencer. Ter Avest and Long are good cover.

CB - Davies to cover for Brown. Helik and Brown remain first choice when fit. If playing in a 3, Long or Spencer can play RCB; Helik in the middle; Brown LCB.

LB - Currie back in from loan.

CM - BDK looks one hell of an acquisition. Could probably do with one more player for cover if the right free agent is available.

RW - Don’t think we’re any stronger here than we were. Mills first choice is fine by me.

CAM - Jury out on Luke Harris. Krastev and Tyler also options.

LW - Krastev, on paper / video, looks a good addition

ST - Lankshear looks class. Prelec has looked a handful when he’s come on.

7.5/10 for me - rising to an 8.5 with a good CM cover.

Dele Alli is now a free agent. Be interesting to see where he goes next. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the championship.

BDK, Lankshear, Prelik and Spencer all look upgrades on what we had.
L Harris and Krastev both look as if they could be very good, bit until they have had s chance to settle in who knows? Especially good comments about Krastev.
Davies sounds as good sensible replacement/ competition for Brown.

Overall the quality of the squad looks a lot higher.

Injuries and FFP seem to have given us challenges in goal particularly.

The second half on Saturday with some of the new guys playing more of a part, seemed encouraging.

Now for the new players to settle in and to start getting a few points on the board.

Let’s just make one thing clear. Sibley is NOT a holding midfielder. He doesn’t have the discipline for that role as a few ridiculous challenges proved last season, nor the passing ability. He’s better in forward positions, with his best moments being his goal vs Pompey last season, winning the penalty when coming on as a sub in pre-season and his last cameo as a sub when he did ok as a left wingback. Not a great amount to shout about and he of course ended last season out of the squad and on loan in league 1

But he’s now part of the squad again whether Rowett wanted it or not.

However, we have Vaulks as cover for the holding CM slots and that’s it, with possibly Josh Johnson, if he proves himself good enough and physically robust enough.

It’s an oversight that leaves me slightly gobsmacked

I think that's the point. 3 sounds overly low, but 4 too high. I'm the same - 7 out of 10 feels right.

Aah, rereading it I get it now, brain doesn't start working for the 15 minutes it does till a bit later. Fair enough, probably a 3 out of 5 for me at the moment, but if I was to do it out of 10 it would be 6.5 so I get the point. A could go either way yet window, you feel we might have needed to do a bit more but if we can get a bit of luck with injuries we could be alright.

How long until we announce one of these free transfers then...?

It’s somewhere between a 3 and 4, will go to a 4 if we sign a Championship-quality free agent central midfielder.

The hit rate looks excellent - BDK, Lankshear and Spencer have been really good, Prelec looks promising too. Davies, Krastev and L Harris all look pretty safe loans. We were promised quality over quantity and the club has delivered. Credit has to go to Waldron and co. as well for getting some of these to Oxford when they’ll have had the options of bigger clubs.

The downside is the balance of the squad. We’re still carrying a couple of passengers and that’s hurt our ability to ensure adequate cover and quality in all areas. Centre back we’ll probably be ok, but central midfield could well be our downfall if it’s not addressed outside of the window.

It's baby steps isn't it. Reckon a couple of tweaks in January (two or three loans out, one or two loans in) and then tidy up all the other elements in the summer 26 window

I think you mean it was a 13/20 window if we're only allowed whole numbers. Or 3.25/5 if we're allowed decimals but the denominator must be 5.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but they said on β€˜The Dub’ that there’s no option to buy Krastev in the loan deal, which is a shame

Or you could use the imperial system and classify it as 7/12

The whole rating system is a rabbit hole, no classification is ever perfect.

Before I listen, did they speculate on free agents at all?

the free agent signing, assuming there is once could swing it for me. The obvious choice would be Riedewald as he can cover CM and CB but his injury record seriously worries me.

Maybe worth a mention that I saw a fair few comments yesterday from one of Filip Krastevβ€˜s previous teams saying they actually think at championship level his best position could be as an 8 once he develops slightly more physically.
