If we were indeed chasing the signing of Al hamadi but it never happened due to Ipswich not signing a striker themselves it could be possible we look at free agents after tomorrow's game.

Hogan, Roofe, Connolly , Niang, Andre Gray all free agents.

Today was a bit underwhelming, I think we all thought another centre forward would come in (especially with O’Donker going out on loan). But I think this has been a fantastic transfer window for us. Some real quality coming in that will improve us now and in the future. We also need to remember that Cam and Tyler have signed new long term deals, which is easily forgotten. Des has certainly been properly backed by the owners and we’ve made some fantastic signings. It’s now up to the King of Cowley to take this talented bunch of men to great heights and prove we are not the whipping boys as so many so called “experts” have labelled us this season.

An excellent window - the best I’ve seen as an Oxford fan.
Slightly uneasy feeling to say the least re. strikers, but we may be thinking too far in worst-case scenario territory - Harris getting injured, Scarlett not stepping up, AND Goodwin not recovering from injury within the next couple of months (or getting injured again). FWiW, I think Scarlett will surprise us, pleasantly.

Midfield is ridiculous and is arguably top 10 Championship material in terms of depth and talent.

Defence is strong too, and well covered in all positions. Looking forward to seeing Ter Avest.
I don’t entirely subscribe to the suggestion that Nelson’s signature was far less important than that of a striker, and that it could disrupt the Moore/Brown partnership. If we assume worst-case upfront, we should assume worst-case at the back as well. We have plenty who can put the ball in the back of the opposition net, but until Nelson came in I wasn’t convinced we had enough who were decent at keeping the ball out of our own.

All in all, bloody well done to Ed and Des.

You’ve missed of Henry Landers

Agree entirely. Had we not signed a CB today, i would have been very concerned indeed. To stay in the Championship you need a solid defence, with strength in depth. We are taking a strong CB partnership into the Championship, but it was hardly the best League One CB partnership (for the best part of the season). To only bolster it by only signing RBs to allow Long to cover would have been folly. Welcome Ben Nelson!

Try telling Kip that 😂

Stansfield signs for Birmingham for £15million PLUS £5 million add ons!!!

If I was a Birmingham fan then I’d be very concerned about the running of their club.

There is buying your way out of the league and then there is this.

The guy ain't worth a quarter of that fee .
Watching them lose in the play offs will make a superb documentary.
Let me grab the popcorn 🍿.

123 days left for us to again decide Harris up top alone is perfectly fine.
I would have liked another striker too.

We do have cover, but we've got genuine competition for every other position.

For strikers we have lots of potential. It might work out but there is an element of risk.

One thing I would say is that Des bought Bennett in for a short loan despite him not having a club, to cover Leigh’s injury. He did well so we then extended if for the season, and then another year.

With Goodwin not available for a few weeks yet, and Scarlett still a work in progress, I wouldn’t mind an experienced OoC player still.

I’m pleased with the window it’s been interesting to say the least.🤞 Sparky doesn’t get injured and hopefully Will ( made of glass) Goodwin will come back injury free and thrive in an Oxford shirt. It’s amazing to think how far we have progressed since the awful January 23 window both in terms of quality of players signed and fees paid. We now hopefully can have a good season although the most important victory will hopefully come in January not on a football pitch. Hopefully we have another 3 points in 17 hours time. COYY.

Our last season in the football league we were bringing in the likes of Alfie Potter and Jamie Cook. Only five years years ago it was Fosu, Agyei and Forde.

The summer has been fantastic in terms of recruitment and our performances have been relatively solid so far. The club and staff should be praised for the recruitment this season. How many times did we get things wrong under previous managers!

I am concerned about Goodwin. I’ll chuck £20 into a display of to a charity if he plays more than 90 mins (combined) between now and January. I worry about injury to Harris and suspension. Additionally, I do think he’s a confidence player. It suffered previously and I hope the same doesn’t happen here again.

I think we’re near enough there. Itll take a few weeks to bed in but I hope we can press on.

Look at that squad and then think that at least 5 of those won't be named on any given matchday. That is the progress made. And still room for loans in January. Some real competition for places in every position it seems.

Biggest question for me is, do we leave Thorniley off the registered list to leave a space for an out of contract player should we need them? Or do we just register who we've currently got? Presumably Eastwood won't be registered and he'll either go out on loan to a National League side (if still allowed?) or become more involved in the coaching side of things.
