Charlton Athletic are a horrific mess - and no amount of scatter-gun signings on deadline day (to add to an already messy and ill-thought-out squad compiled by a range of managers with various ideas) will change that.

They will finish 12th because there is some quality - but it would take a very very impressive immediate fixer to do any more with it.

And that ain't Michael Appleton.
Disagree enormously. Players like Edun, Taylor, Fraser, Camara, May, Hector, Tedic top quality at this level.

Not sure if you’ve heard but their amazing squad lost to us last Saturday Kip. Were you too busy at KFC?

From what I have just seen on Twitter it would appear JCH is off to Birmingham, not sure how reliable that is however.

I've literally just mentioned the quality they do have.

But as I also say, it's been cobbled together under various managers with different philosophies - and arguably without any overarching insistence on a style and, crucially, the character of each player.

Compare and contrast with what we've done this Summer - quality clearly, but more importantly the right characters for the right system.

We have an identity, and everyone (management, players, fans) is buying into it.

Charlton, and their recruitment, feels both expensive and wild. Very, dare I say, Karl Robinson.

Which is rather ironic considering your continued cheerleading for them.

Oh well that's that. No striker. Maybe in January
