Summer 2020 Cricket Thread

Burns gone cheaply again. Looks horribly out of touch.

Crawley and Sibley in. 27/1 from 6.

Genuine question from somebody with the most cursory knowledge of/passing interest in cricket;

How might strong winds affect play? Is it perceived to favour batsmen, bowlers, or neither?

Both. :)

It will aid with swing if across the pitch, or with pace if behind the arm. Will cause bowlers problems with run ups, so expect more no balls.

As in this case with the wind coming down one end makes it hard work for the bowlers running into it.

How with a spinner at one end for a lot of the session didn't Pakistan manage 30 overs in it?

Tough on Sam Curran. Didn't deserve to be dropped. Archer needs to pull his finger out now. I want to see him being fast and nasty not trundle in and bowl medium fast.
Good 50 from Crawley. Their leggy looks dangerous even though its only the first morning.

Crawley is showing glimpses of being a good player isn't he? He doesn't look overawed with the international game and it shows with how he started his innings.
Definitely a player in there. Same with Pope, two good prospects.

An excellent innings from Crawley. Doesnt he open for Kent?
Also fair play to Buttler who was under a lot of pressure but is now back in form.
England suddenly seem to have sone strength in depth ( Stokes not playing and Curran left out)
Really need Bess to develop though as we seem a good spinner short.

Is Adil Rashid worth another go? He has been excellent in one day cricket and has developed his game considerable.

Great afternoons play. Credit to Crawley & Butler for scoring over 4 an over in a 200 partnership. Made a wet and windy day in West Oxfordshire almost bearable... Let’s hit another 200 + tomorrow and my 7/4 will look a good price ???????

sporadic, off/on play today so far .... 336-4 .... play set to restart soon, yet despite the 'pauses'/ hold ups etc , lunch is going to be taken at 2pm ?

phew! Buttler given out, survives on appeal

then gets a boundary to register his ton on the next ball

Rizwan standing up to the stumps with 75-80mph balls.............. fair play to the bloke! Blink at the wrong time its going to hurt!!
373 -4... luncheon.
