I think Easty actually said Cumming had felt it towards the end of the MK game, and thst Easty might've come on in that game if we didn't have the momentum and weren't going for the win.

Far from ITK, but I did say in the Jamie Cumming thread a couple of days afterwards that I hoped there was nothing untoward in Brown taking goal kicks and free kicks for him.

He did but Easty also said about the pre-match warm up which was what was mentioned in the post I responded to.

As much as I love Eastwood, I would be worried if Cumming was out for any length of time. In the same way I would be if Ryan Clarke or Billy Turley rocked up a few years after they’d been a regular starter.

Remember when Alan Judge played at the Kassam?! I thought he was going to pick up the backpasses! Still bloody brilliant, class is permanent. Easty won't ket us down.

After todays performance, has anybody considered using the Embargo card keeps a team of Championship players at the club until at least January, with a perfect excuse to not let any go. Lets hope it works.

Yellow bastards

Surprised me looking at this how few games he played for us, was only kid back then but remember Judge, Hucker and Hardwick all playing in goal around that era, could one of them not nail down the position?

Went in their club before the game for a beer or 2, someone handed us a couple of vouchers for free drink afterwards so we went back to celebrate, and got given more vouchers so stayed a bit longer to use them.
Then the bus driver waved everyone on without paying.
Three points
Free beer
Free transport
Cant ask for more really

Nurses and police are subject to physical abuse on a daily basis. Suggesting that fans questionning refs' decision making is in any way similar is, quite frankly, ridiculous.
Sorry but you introduced physical abuse into this conversation not me. I recognise those challenges though, because both of my daughters have worked frontline NHS.
A good 3 points from the game though returning to the original subject matter.

Interesting that people have said how quiet McDonnell was yesterday when he had so many touches of the ball (second only to Currie).

In midfield it felt like he bought Brannagan the time and space to wrestle away control, and what was really encouraging for me was how well he defended the box, racking up the highest number of headed clearances.

In physical contests like that, he's going to be so important for us.

McDonnell does the dirty work very well. Never stops running and wins the ball in the air surprisingly a lot.

Seems Ramsey got the starting 11 correct despite the negative reaction to it prior. Subs changed the game when they came on and Kioso and Sibley had good games. A lot of people have forget Sibley cleared one off the line and never stopped running.

Doesn't happen in rugby - better class of spectator I guess. Abuse is NEVER acceptable. I suggest you take up refereeing and be Mr Perfect - see you in the 2030 World Cup final
Not exactly true, go and watch rugby in the West Country and you might change your opinion. Generally rugby has set better moral and ethical standards in their game at junior levels and questioning the referee's decision on the field is penalised. The contrast is quite stark to football. But never really enjoyed egg chasing as a spectator sport.

Visiting Cardiff on an egg chasing day at the Millennium Stadium might be an eye opener for them.

Judge wasn't up to the (then) First Division- decent shot stopper but very flappy on crosses etc. . Hardwick was an excellent shot stopper and organiser, but very short for a keeper, even then. We paid quite a lot for Hucker, who was appalling. Slow off his line, poor handling and dreadful distribution. Can't remember who came after Hucker, but Whitehead was by far the best keeper we had in the 90's.

I have several years of experience as a Police Officer thanks. I'd lock them all up - however, I assess every situation as it arises but you call me a c*nt and you're spending a night in the cells. You're the sort of idiot that's destroying society - the sort of idiot that says abuse is tolerable at a certain level. Moron
You go on about abuse and ‘locking people up’ and saying people should be abusive towards refs and then finish your post by calling someone a moron and that they are destroying society.
Maybe you should listen to your own advice 😅

Do as say not as I do, the unwritten law of police enforcement!!

Relief was my overriding emotion at the end of the game..

After a tough few weeks that win settles a few nerves, and reduces the levels of toxicity around the club.

On reflection it was great to see AR pick a team for the occasion. We stayed in the game, matched them physically and then a bit of class showed through.

Fair play to Eastwood, he’s some pro to come in from the cold and perform like that. I do hope though that Cumming has only picked up a niggle.

Could GO’d be the story of the season? I really hope so, physically he looks the business and he showed some smart movement to score and win the penalty.

Phew!

Does anyone know if keepers are special cases in terms of the embargo, i.e can we get an emergency loan?

Superb win today.

So pleased to see GOD realising his potential. I think it is easy to forget how young he was when he first make his breakthrough under KR a few seasons ago.

Agree with those in this thread who think Helik is going to be an important player this season. He has to be first choice CB when we play against big, physical teams.

Hopefully Cumming's injury is not too severe, but credit for Eastwood being able to step back in having not played a competitive game for over two seasons!
I think Eastwood's distribution from both foot and hand are superior to Cumming's which to an extent offsets his inferior overall capability.

Radio Oxford said we couldn't get an emergency loan with only one keeper injured I think.

There's clearly a strong argument for starting him already, but if Cumming misses the next match, I really hope we start O'Donkor to compete for more long kicks. Yet another team who play three centre-backs, but with Emakhu and Mills up front too, we'd make high balls a lot more uncomfortable for them.

This was discussed on WATG and although it's not definitive, they said that while we have a third keeper available is unlikely to be an option.

Agree. I think McDonnell is one of those players you don’t notice until he’s not there. Always gives 100%.
