Steve Evans taking defeat well….(not).

Whilst not excusing Evans, it does annoy me when the oppo manager isn't ready to shake hands right after the final whistle is blown.
The Norwich manager kept Buckingham waiting the other week.
Managers should make a b line for each other at final whistle. There's no rules but it's basic etiquette to shake hands with your opponent before anything else. The fact this practice isn't limited to sport or cultures.

You would be right. I admit I could have worded things better.

I hate them all but we’ve had the most recent encounters with Wycombe and they are classless

Every match involving Fatty Evans.

Pre match says how good the opposition, manager fans and club are.

Post match either complains the opposition has spent loads of money or says his side shouldve thrashed the opposition when his club is the one thats spent loads on players.

A very tetchy and defensive interview from under pressure Steve Evans last night after the 1-0 defeat at Leyton Orient

Just finished reading a book called Journeyman by Ben Smith.
He had a couple of seasons under Evans and Rayner at Crawley. Think it would be fair to say he is no very complementary.

What an odious bloke.

I thought he'd do well there this season but it's not working. His time as an effective manager which, lets be honest, he has been over the years might be drawing to an end. This is very likely his last roll of the dice with a club of any reasonable stature. If he fails at Rotherham then left for him will be firefighting towards the bottom of L2 or L1 if he's very lucky. As dislikeable as he can be Swindon could have done worse than have him these past few seasons, their choice of managers in the past few years has been dreadful.

Agreed. Man's an a**e, but his style of football has been consistently effective, with the right players to suit his style. The Moonrakers would not be where they are now if they had him at the helm.

That said, I wish them both a very painful future.

Ooh, that sounds interesting, thanks!

That game in COVID times where we sh*tmixed them in added time and we heard him going mad after the final whistle because the ground was empty lives rent-free in my memory.
Shitmixed

Theres a verb that’s getting added to my armoury somewhere near thunderbastard

Yep, and he signed an entire team's worth of proven League One performers on July 1st.

You'd have put money on them finishing Top six with him managing that squad......not struggling near the bottom having won 3 out of 13.

I think you are probably right but I thought that when he pitched up at Stevenage who were in danger of dropping out of the league. 18 months later they were hanging around the play-offs in League One. Horrible bloke, as is his assistant Raynor.

I read it a couple of years ago.

I had no recollection of Ben Smith at all, even though he played against us a few times, but it was a really good read. The insights into Evans' methods were very enlightening, particularly the bit where he balled Smith out in the dressing room, nose to nose, and Smith recalled the spittle from Evans covering his face as Evans ranted!!!

For those who like a warts and all insight into the life of a lower league footballer I'd highly recommend it.
