Ex-Player Thread Stanley Mills

Fair point. Better keeping him around and poisoning the well.
No - if he doesn’t show some serious contrition next week, you freeze him out of the squad training and make an example of him.

If you pander to his tantrum, you will cause much bigger problems with other players with two weeks of the transfer window remaining.

Look at how Will Lankshear, who was only on loan here here, conducted himself here last season and look at what has happened to him in the very short time since, big transfer and scoring goals, going to go on and have a good career that should earn him enough he won’t have to work after. The main difference between him and Mills and BDK is attitude, can’t see either of them doing anywhere near as well as him despite there being no huge gap in quality.

Mills' attitude always seemed to be good. I think he is being very poorly advised.

He also turned down a move to Boro in January to stay here when it would’ve been far easier to leave us and go on to better things. Had he gone there in January he might’ve given Boro the goals to be a premier league player with them by now. Gave it up the chance to be here.

Granted, different landscape now and not the insurance policy of a premier league club to return to for Mills but wow…. What a contrast.

Stan Mills is a young player whose head has been turned. The fact he turned up and was warming down at the end hints that, if he is here, he will knuckle down and work his way back in. I'm prepared to give him that chance. By the sounds of the post match interview, he will not just be walking back in and nor should he but I do believe he deserves the opportunity to clear his head and put things right on the pitch.

I think Mills is doing his best to force a move without completely downing tools. He's performing a tightrope act and I'm glad that Ramsey has given him a shove.

Along with BDK, another footballer that seems to be greatly overestimating his own ability and perhaps should have considered his desire to ride the big dipper on a weekly basis before he signed his contract to play here.

Just heard the interview with Ramsey his opinion on Mills and BDK couldn’t be any more different than for Greg Leigh who he said was tremendous and absolutely professional. If that was t a huge dig at Mills and BDK I don’t know what was
Where can I find said interview?

Those tools don’t seem to be doing much so I think we can say that him and BDK have downed them.

So we might be able to bring in a replacement but we might not? That doesn’t seem particularly helpful in making the decision.

And the replacement we may or may not be able to bring in may or may not be a player which actually want to sign. Farcical.

The closer it gets to the transfer deadline the fewer good players in our range and on our radar would be available. Plus who would actually want to sign for us at the moment apart from someone pretty desperate.

Heavily stacked against us.

The club should have said something along the lines of of
Stan had made it clear he wants to play at a higher level and as a club we have never stood in the way of players looking to go up the pyramid we have a proud history of developing players who have gone on to have careers at the highest levels however at present we are faced with a unique set of circumstances which Stan understands due to his affection for the club Stan has agreed to stay until January when the transfer fee will help us navigate out of the situation we are in , we thank Stan and his representatives and look forward to seeing him represent us until January and know the fans will get behind him

That way I think instead of getting booed today he might have got a better reception as we wouid have seen that he was putting the club ahead of his own career

oh and Danny you had your career let Stan have his without your advise !!

That would send Danny Mills into overdrive trying to move Stan on.
Might be a little bit shafted there as I'm pretty sure under FIFA rules, which may have changed, that a player can't be registered with more than 2 clubs in a 12 month period.

Wow. Pretty surprised at all of this. Didn’t think Stan had it in him.

Club took him on after a potentially career changing/ruining injury, and he didn’t exactly pull up trees even if he had a good season after Rowett left.. these players forget they signed a contract.

If he’s not over his sulk by the Stevenage game, Let him rot til January. Hopefully JJW is back asap.

Instead of explaining how Mills could still get a move in this window, hasn't Nixon just shown why he can't be replaced?

In fact, if we'd reached a potential agreement with PNE, allowed the player to talk to the club, taken the numbers to this Club Financial Review Panel (or consulted with its members), and been told we would still be unable to register any new players, then it would explain a lot about the timeline and the details of this weird transfer saga wouldn't it?

We do know Mills must have been given permission by the club to discuss terms with PNE (with a possible transfer on the table this window). He could only legally reach any sort of agreement with them if we'd sanctioned it.

We also know he's then been told by the club that the transfer can't happen after all, the deal is off, and if Danny Mills' comments this week are any indication, Stan might not have been told exactly why this is the case - just that he has to stay and get on with it, having been told previously he could explore another option.

Would it really be a surprise if vague, even misleading communication to the player on behalf of the club might have made this situation worse than it needed to be?
