Ex-Player Thread Stanley Mills

On par mileage wise to scum and readpot maybe closer so let’s agree to disagree on the local derby view .
It's not a local derby. It's a game between two clubs who are close to eachother.

Distance alone does not make a local derby.

Oxfordshire is home to several historic mills, ranging from medieval watermills featured on rock album covers and war films to grand Victorian industrial estate buildings and restored windmills.

Back on track 👊

Its 40 miles away from Oxford, meaning Reading 28, Swindon 33 are both nearer plus we have history with those two. Wycombe is nearer than MK Dons, we have played them more as well and its not a derby.

Stanley Mill (also known as Melin y Gof or Stanley Windmill) is a Grade II listed former corn-grinding tower mill overlooking the Inland Sea near Trearddur Bay on the Isle of Anglesey, Wales. Built around 1828 and named after the local landowning Stanley family, it holds the historical distinction of being the last wind-powered working windmill on Anglesey until it closed in November 1938.

Stadium to stadium (MK To the Breeze block ) 42 miles .

I think Stan’s dad, Danny isn’t fully aware of the facts concerning the embargo. It’s not just free transfers that aren’t permitted it also means we aren’t allowed to register any new players also!
Quite telling that interview and some of the phrases used “some bad decisions”, “it’s going to be a difficult season”.

The bad decisions and general lack of foresight about the new rules (we had people waiting to sign until it was announced) is fair. I don’t feel like it would be a difficult season if BDK and Mills played and we could sign some people in Jan. We’d like more cover in certain areas but it feels fairly competitive especially with a strong second half of the season.

Either he knows something we don’t or he’s decided OUFC isn’t where he wants his son playing and is painting a gloomy outlook. Or perhaps both!

Which isn't exactly next door is it? The history makes some derbies, Norwich/Ipswich being the only pro cubs around there areas etc, even if the local bit is a bit forced, we have no history with them and they are neither that local or our nearest team (only third in the division) so its just a game against a club 40 plus miles away.

The only thing is how much pressure does an interview on Talksport put on the people that the decision falls upon, Dusan and Erick? I would say pretty much zero as they are not even in the country, he is just wasting his time with this one.

It depends if Mills goes are we under the 23 player squad which allows us under the embargo regulations. If so a free agent or a loan (without financial outlay by OUFC re part or any part salary )
Does anybody know the answer re 23 squad?

Nobody here is even sure if that rule applies to our situation.

I tend to agree- not that Im ITK on the intricacies of the Embargo, but I presume that under an embargo improved terms and conditions, contract extentions and the like cant be offered ( perhaps OUFC , if there was no embargo, may have matched/ bettered what PNE are putting on the table, yet under embargo are unable to do so?)

Im getting de ja vu vibes on the current Mills situation, -Callam O'Dowda and his old man interfering 'advising', come to mind

It’s very telling when asked “how’s your boy getting on?” The answer isn’t yeah it was a tough season last season for him but he is set and looking forward to the first game. (Usual bland middle of the road answer). Instead it’s pretty tough for him and then talks about the transfer embargo - it’s only tough for him if he wants to leave. Pretty obvious where all the noise on this move are coming from.

According to the rules posted on this forum re embargo yes the rule applies.
Yes. But from the EFL handbook about SCMP embargoes and player registration:

9 Consequences of Notification/Other Failure to Comply

9.1 A Club which:

9.1.1 does not file any SCMP Submission by the required date;

9.1.2 does not provide information where requested to do so by The League; and/or

9.1.3 The League considers, acting reasonably, is forecast to fail to fulfil or meet the SCMP Requirement,

shall be subject to a Player registration embargo (the 'Embargo') such that The League may refuse any application made by that Club to register any Player or any new contract of an existing Player with that Club.

Going back to Alan Brazil he needed a liver transplant or else he was a dead man and had the surgery recently

They could listen in via internet radio but perhaps only the Chairman has time for that. It depends who is presenting if I decide whether to switch off or not.

Look all we have to do is protest and erick will back down and stop the transfer
