Ars you led to believe that thd stadium will still proceed? It's difficult to get relegated if there isn't a club! But I'm led to believe that the doomsday scenario might have been shelved for now, although possibly at the expense of further, less apocalyptic, pain.
Sorry if this all sounds a bit cryptic but I'm writing under the twin restraints of confidentiality and conflicting messages
I would think that whatever happens , they will try very hard to not be relegated.I am guessing the options were shut the club down or sell loads of players to run the club for the season, to the extent that relegation is very likely? And that it looks likely to be the latter?
Where that leaves us in a years time, with league 2 income and I am guessing a still weak squad is going to be interesting, as the debt will still be there, we will still be running at a loss, but it looks likely it all hinges on the ground and Erick being allowed some money or the near mythical investor riding into save the day.
The poor guy has spent more time in Preston this summer than he has in Oxford.ITK PNE-supporting friend telling me that Stan is in Preston today to discuss his transfer. Said it involves a 'big fee', but not as big as the £4.5m they paid for Devine.
Will be gutted to see him leave but I guess we can't turn down significant money like that...
What's an incredible bid though? If it's say £4m plus significant sell on, I imagine it'll happenCan't see it happening unless we receive an incredible bid. Vaulks and/or BDK possibly, but not Mills on the cheap.
That sounds rather too perilously close to last year's situation for comfort- strengthening the squad with players with potential is the obvious way forward in Jan.I would think that whatever happens , they will try very hard to not be relegated.
In L1 there are some very good teams but some small clubs with low budgets.
So even selling Mills, BDK, Currie ( as an example) should leave us with enough decent players to avoid the drop with good coaching and a siege mentality
£4m in the market today does not feel incredible, not for a player who performed as well as one that just went for £20m in the same team and league last season. What's an incredible bid though? If it's say £4m plus significant sell on, I imagine it'll happen
Totally agree.. £4m doesn't feel significant any more.. especially when we can't do anything with that money at the moment.£4m in the market today does not feel incredible, not for a player who performed as well as one that just went for £20m in the same team and league last season.
Especially at that silly priceI think keeping Mills is vital to our chances of pushing for promotion/playoffs. Not sure who would play on the right side if he goes with Woo injured.
Obviously every player has a price - but would
be disappointing if we don’t get to see him play at all for us this season

If… and if….If we were to get £4m with a sell on clause if he plays premiership football or gets sold on of say 25% could be worth it
In the interview on Saturday, Ramsey said 'Obviously Stan is really important to what we're trying to achieve here'. Is that the remark of a manager who's battling to keep hold of a player? Stan should at least have an option for what would be year 3.5In the interview on Saturday, Ramsey said 'Obviously Stan is really important to what we're trying to achieve here'. Is that the remark of a manager who's battling to keep hold of a player? Sounded like it might be.
Sorba Thomas was rumoured to have moved to Stoke for around £2m a year ago, when he had a year left on his contract (as might Mills?). Now the fee being reported for a move to West Ham is £10m. I honestly think PNE could be looking at a similar profit.
But we're talking about a player who could be the difference between gaining promotion and missing out. It seems like Ramsey knows it, and the financial consequence of that could eclipse any transfer fee.
Not convinced by that albeit none of us know for sure. @Colin B indicated in a separate thread that if we sold one player for a decent fee/removed their wages, that might be enough to get the embargo lifted.I cannot see the club letting him go willingly. The price would have to represent how much he means to the club and more than compensate for his loss. It's not a case of sell and buy someone new. We don't have that option.
As far as I can interpret, the rules indicate that the income from player sales cannot be simply reused to buy another player. The grounds for the embargo would have to be lifted to allow registration of players other than when the below 23 players clause triggers. And even then, that player must be a free agent or, free loan. Not convinced by that albeit none of us know for sure. @Colin B indicated in a separate thread that if we sold one player for a decent fee/removed their wages, that might be enough to get the embargo lifted.
Other clubs seem to get top dollar, why can't we? I'd love him to stay, he's probably the difference between us being mid table or pushing.
I wouldn't take less than 4M.
Not sure about that. They're in the bookies' bottom three for the seasonAgree, we can't sign a replacement so there should be a premium for that.
Why Preston though? He'll spend his time there finishing between 9th and 13th. A boring club.
