I think the whole team are, having a settled team to start with makes a hell of a difference

I agree. It isn’t rocket science but so many managers change the team game after game, no wonder they can’t find a winning formula. Bloomfield is putting square pegs in square holes and the results are there for all to see. Not wishing to use a PL analogy but Carrick is doing exactly the same at Man United, Tudor at Spurs the exact opposite and Rowett was, latterly, a tinkering here. I don’t think these winning managers are doing anything too scientific, just breeding familiarity and giving players confidence.

Total athlete.

He’s got that Championship-level pace and athleticism that’s needed to compete at this level. His touch is good and his crossing - either static or on the run - is dangerous.

He starts every game if fit.
Probably is going to be our most desirable asset come the summer transfer window.

I have been critical of him in the past. He is really developing well. Still think there is more to come in terms of development and he needs a bit more to his game than just pace. However, it says a lot about him and MPH that nobody is clamouring for any of our other new (or existing) wingers to start which is always a good sign...

There already is more to his game than just pace. If you haven’t been able to see that this season then I’m not sure you’ve been watching him properly.

He can cross, cut in and shoot, head the ball and finish. His defensive play last night was superb and he has shown glimpses of this before.

It's interesting actually. Last night I realised that he's actually playing wing back out of possession. He drops right back, and Long goes to a central (rcb) position. Impressive from Mills, as when we attack he feels like an out-and-out winger, He's got some engine to get up and down so much.
And he's also part werewolf.

This is a fair enough point. I really meant when it comes to beating a player, he needs a bit more guile sometimes than just trying to use his pace to knock it past them. You are absolutely right on his wider game..

Yeah but when he chooses not to beat a man with pace, he’s added the ability to cut in and shoot which gives us an extra dynamic.

He’s essentially a much more well rounded and effective version of Placheta.

Did you see Cummings attempt at claiming a cross last night?
Fair point. A bit of a goalkeepers union point but I would say that, after coming for a cross that he had absolutely no business going for, he did at least commit to it. Which we certainly always used to be told to do. Once you’ve made the mistake, better to disrupt the player who wins the ball than be caught in no man’s land doing nothing. Most importantly, we got away with it.

Cumming makes the odd mistake but he has won us far more points than he has lost us. I think he generally a very good keeper.

I was glad I couldn’t really see what was happening but it was a bad series of moments

As a (former) member of the Goalkeepers Union, completely agree. He possibly should have punched, but no matter. He is an excellent keeper- our best since Phil Whitehead in the mid 90's.

And he recovered to make a good save from the same attack getting back to the line quickly.

Maybe working with Hackett?
Dynamo and productive with the ball , his crosses are now dangerous
I might be totally wrong but Hackett if I remember rightly had a lot of pace and was very quite dangerous but what I thought actually stopped him being as valuable as dean whitehead at the time was his ability to pass

Totally disagree
Has to be Mark Harris 🤣

Good peps of the forum we really need to tal

As a probable much older former goalie I don't understand why goalies punch 99% of the time when it's safer to catch and then your team has control of the ball anyways...

I think Cumming is the best goalie we've had in Decades and goalie should be allowed an error or 2.. we don't moan at Lanks for missing 2 efforts but with goalies it can cost you the game. But as my old manager used to say when I made an error in goal and other players criticised me , he just said well you should have allowed the ball to get to him so look at yourself.

Wingers generally do. But all season he has looked dangerous and an asset. It would have been very obviously poor judgement to loan him out.
I disagree. I think for a large part of the season he struggled with aspects of his game at times. Things just did not click for him under Rowett consistently. It happens. If Rowett had stayed, this may have stayed the case so loaning him out may have been the best thing at the time.

Very good again yesterday! Murphy aside, the best winger we’ve had in the last few years? Great engine, pace, and puts in a great cross.
Hopefully we keep him next season regardless of which league we are in
I reckon that clubs will be making offers for Mills next season.
In the past month he has Gwen excellent going forward, but he also is really hard working and is very important defensively.
We could do with something similar on the left!
