Stand Names @ The Triangle

1893 stand
London Road stand
Jim Smith stand

I'm not used to having a 4th stand so still working on a name for that.

I really hope that there is some link to our heritage in the naming of the stadium. "1893" of "The Manor" (sorry @SteMerritt ) seem the most obvious and are no less boring than "The Oxford Community Stadium" or some corporate naming rights would be.

As for stands, then I think that Jim Smith and Joey Beauchamp are the only true legends of my time supporting the club. I could understand Arthur Turner being added to that list for those that remember our entry into the league, and maybe a nod towards our Headington roots.

There will hopefully be plenty of bars and entertainment spaces that could also recognise our past. "The Kit Room" with replica shirts on the walls. The 1986 bar with the Milk Cup on display alongside Wembley memorabilia etc.

The good thing is that we can have these conversations now and can start to look at making this a home that we're all proud of.

Whatever we want it to be called it will inevitably end up being a commercial sponsorship. I just hope it's nothing terrible like the Spud Bros Stadium.

Let's not clamour for the naming rights to be sold off. I know in reality that it is likely, but that doesn't mean we have to be happy about it! I would much prefer it if we made a statement as a club along the lines that; "we have worked so hard and fought for so long for this moment, and so the stadium name will be protected from commercialisation to recognise it". That would buy the owners a lot of positive PR and good will. I'm aware that is perhaps being idealistic though.

Whatever happens, let's make sure we the fans keep calling it The Triangle. The thought of happily saying as a fan that "I'm going up the Amex/Emirates for the football" is a bit nauseating (though still not as bad as "going up the Kassam Stadium"!)
If the stadium costs £140m+ and some are questioning how this is going be paid for, there is no way there wont be as much naming rights as possible.
This will also hopefully allow for more to be spent on players.
Even Oxford City have their stadoum name sponsored.

The Jim Smith Stand as the South stand.
The stand towards Woodstock where he lived.
The Joey Beauchamp Stand as The North Stand, which will be the Kidlington end of the stadium.
Again where he was living.

Then a statue if possible outside of each stand.

Mmmmmm🤔 wouldn't it be north stand because Woodstock is north.
& South stand because Joey was a cuttleslowe lad.

Yeah I accept that is the case, but I think us as fans can at least accept that begrudgingly, and make sure the ownership know that we're not necessarily happy about it. If the fans don't at least try and hold the line against rampant commercialisation in football, then who else will!

Perhaps a nod towards our green powered stadium and a f*cking great nod towards our most nearest beautiful and quintessential village of Kidlington = The Garden City Stadium lol.

Just need Toblerone to sponsor it… homage to the Triangle sorted.

York had the Kit Kat stadium after all.

The Triangle Stadium… sponsored by Toblerone

After the past 20 years I personally think that getting a fantastic new stadium will be great- whatever it is called!!

After the past 20 years (and the rest), I absolutely agree, and am incredibly excited! Just don't want to pitch up the first day to the brand-spanking new 'Spud Bros Stadium' feeling slightly embarrassed about what it's called (unless we all get free jacket potatoes every match for life, in which case I could live with it)!

I'm not against naming rights and accept that we can't be too picky if someone wants to pay a big chunk of cash to help offset the cost - especially if that allows us to be more competitive on the pitch as a result.

I'd like a formal (or informal) that's ours, and one thats linked to our heritage. I don't like The Triangle, especially after 25 years of pisstaking about 3 sides. I get that The New Manor is a bit twee. The 1893 Arena is a little dull. And most other references to Oxford as a city are generally linked to the University.

But its our home and I'd like a name that we can all relate too.

Just hope whatever we go for isn't too corporate. I know it's critical to balance the books, but having a proper stadium name will inspire better support in my view and more money. Otherwise it's just any other generic stadium.

Like the idea people have said The [Sponsor] Manor. Keeps a good balance and allows us fans to call it The Manor. Would be nice since I was too young to ever go to the manor.

Then again, if we just have somewhere to play I'd be happy and beggars can't be choosers.

I’d quite like some form of recognition to Ken Fish at the new stadium, whether that be a stand or a corporate box/lounge.
Other legends that need some form or recognition are Jim Smith, Mickey Lewis, Joey & Maurice Evans.
