I’m with you on that. On another thread some were saying how good it was and we should have it in the new stadium.
To me it just killed the atmosphere in the away end and the usual pre match build up was crap.
Also couldn’t even have a proper conversation with my son and daughter either side which was disappointing.
I 100% agree with this.

Before the game yesterday I was trying to talk to people around me but it was bloody impossible, as the PA was so loud. By all means have something on, but in the background, and crank it up for the last five minutes before the players come out, but not from the moment people arrive.

On another, related, note did anyone else notice the annoying way the announcer spoke when he announced our subs? He said their surname almost as a question, or with some sort of incredulity, a sort of "who????". Fucking annoying Brummie twat.

Yes and after the sub was announced the Birmingham fans all chanted 'who?' which makes me suspect this is a regular occurance. This shows a complete lack of respect and something we should never stoop to.
At the Hull game we had even louder (crap) music blasted out before the game so that conversation was almost impossible. Following that we has an 'introduction' to the Hull fans in all four stands which was meant to be aggresive and intimidating. In my opinion this showed a complete lack of class from the HCFC.

That's the plan from talking with the stadium team. The expectation is that everything inside and outside the stadium will be accessible by all, which means that there can be several different "experiences" rather than the same generic bar and hot dogs kiosk every 50 yards.
In order to avoid the half time queues for refreshments we should adopt the modern system of ordering and paying via an app. Once the order has been placed you get an order number, the staff prepare your food and drink and you collect it at half buy showing your order number with very little waiting. I think this would generate more sales, improve the overall experience for fans and make the life a bit easier for the staff.

This was also discussed with the project team, and I'm sure there will be app ordering services in place. It encourages people to spend more and it is easier for serving staff so should be a win/win.

One thing I notice about the new Everton stadium is they don't allow anyone to bring in food or drink, not even a flask of tea. I hope that's something we don't adopt at our new stadium.

On the flip side, its good to see the Everton fans group stating that fans are expected to stand at the home end to create an atmosphere.

A number of stadiums don't allow flasks or cans, and bottles often have to have the lids removed. I wouldn't be surprised if we followed suit to be honest.

I can understand cans etc from a safety perspective, but not so much a sandwich or dare I say it a packet of custard creams. ;)

What is the projected number of safe standing places in the new stadium?
Over 1000 would be awesome.

Wasn’t it 20% of the capacity being safe standing?
Behind both goals and top half of away corner?

So that would be 3,200.

From the planning docs,

"The remaining three stands [north, east & south] will be made up of over 9000 General Admission seats and just under 4000 licensed standing seats.

The current Rail Seating strategy is to focus them predominantly in the North Stand [hotel end], as well as a section in the SE corner for the Away fans. At 3986, The Rail Seating provision make up just under 25% of the overall stadium capacity.

The away GA seating provision is located in the SE corner with options of either 800, 1600 or 2400 (5%, 10% or 15% of the stadium capacity respectively). "

I hope they revisit this to also have some in the south stand, closest end to the away support.

Does anyone know if well be able to watch matches from the hotel rooms?

In one of the videos or pictures, I think it might be the original fly through video you can see people watching a match inside a hotel room

EDIT: it’s not in that video, I am sure I’ve seen it somewhere though

I still haven’t got over the Coventry Nazis confiscating my sandwich and crisps. Especially as I’d wanted to eat them on the way but decided to wait as it was a 12.30 kick off.

Utter tinpot yank shite.

They had these when I went to the west ham stadium earlier this year, and they're rubbish, just give you a cup full of foam. Main 'benefit' is that the stadium can ditch most of its pint-pulling staff and just have one poor sod manning the machine

I agree. That looks crap. The opposite of what we should be aiming at - quality customer service.

Don't really get how that's going to be quicker than having people serving and pouring, took that bloke a fair bit of time, imagine a big queue doing that?
They have had them behind the Hollies Stand at Edgbaston for quite a while, and they are crap. Certainly can't keep up with a stand full of Cricket fans.

At my club back home they have multipour systems where they'll pour six pints with the press of a button. Means you don't need to depend on the skill level of the catering employee, you get a consistent pour (not a fistful of head), and most importantly it's very fast. Much more environmentally friendly than empying a plastic bottle into a plastic cup too.

Will be having none of that shite if that's what we go for. Proper cask pumps with local real ale or I'm not going.

Would be cool if the club could sell reusable plastic OUFC pint glasses or something to push the environmentally friendly theme.

I'm hoping for a well-stocked enomatic wine cabinet so i can just help myself at half time. It'll save the club thousands if they can let the in-seat sommelier go.

I'd like to see these exact images as statues:

Along with the big brass OX statue currently at The Kassam, that's one statue outside each stand. Jim outside the main stand holding the scarf above his head, Joey and Mickey outside the side stands, and the OX outside the stand at the other end.

OR, have them all on a big plinth outside the main stand, Jim Smith stood holding the OUFC scarf above his head, with Joey and Mickey either side of him, and the brass ox in front of them.

💛

I think Farrs looked at the tech but no way they could afford it with the contract at the current stadium (from memory). Hopefully new stadium, run by the club, for the benefit of the club will have the investment done.

In Bandung they wouldn’t allow you to bring in even plastic bottles with the lid taken away.
