Non-League Southend: When Will The Agony End ?

Southend Utd have a good fanbase and great potential. Was always a good day out. Surely events must eventually turn in their favour.

I used to go to Roots Hall many times when I lived in Chelmsford and it holds pleasant memories.
Hope they survive all the difficulties, that so many clubs have had including us

And due back in the High court on 4th Oct. Could be wound up if their tax bill (£275,000) isn't paid - and according to the quotes in that BBC article that doesn't look very likely. You really have to feel for their supporters.

Horrible to see this happening to Southend. Hopefully we will see a turnaround in their fortunes. Lower league teams need all the income they can get, it’s a shame Premier League clubs are more interested in touring the US, Asia etc to sell shirts than play a pre season friendly against the likes of Southend which would generate much needed funds.

At this point reforming under a new name is looking to be the only option. As it was recently given city status maybe Southend City FC.

If only the council had a stake in the land that the stadium sits on, if not the stadium itself, they would be in a much stronger position to help the club. Particularly given it’s becoming obvious that the last thing Ron Martin wants is a football club wanting to use it, getting in the way of that sweet, sweet development.

What a fab little ground. The people who live in these two houses are the complete opposite of the NIMBYs worrying about OUFC being 2 miles away from them...

Well, certainly nobody in Kidlington would have to worry about their glass conservatory being in the firing line!
