.....now that we are are mathematically safe, and there's no danger of jinxing things - who do we want to play next year?

Guaranteed coming down - Sunderland
To be joined by - two from Burton, Bolton, Barnsley, Birmingham & Reading.

Guaranteed coming up from League Two - Accrington, Luton, Wycombe
To be joined by - one from Exeter, Coventry, Notts County, Lincoln City, Mansfield

Going down - Bury, MK Dons, Northampton
To be joined by - (in all probability) Oldham or Rochdale

Going up - Wigan, Blackburn
To be joined by - one from Shrewsbury, Rotherham, Charlton, Scunthorpe, Plymouth.

From a competitive standpoint (i.e. we want the teams with the least resources in our division), I'd say we'd probably want to gain Exeter, Burton & Barnsley and lose Oldham & Rotherham.

From a "Let's make this division more fun" standpoint, I'd guess we'd like to see Birmingham, Reading & Coventry. We can still lose Oldham & Rotherham!

Anyone have other thoughts?

I'd like to see Birmingham, Reading and Wycombe join us. and for Rotherham to go up with Wigan and Blackburn.

Would love to see Birmingham come down if just to see Pep’s joyous face again. I was chatting to a Norwich fan the other day who, despite his own team achieving b****r all this season, said that Birmingham really deserve to go down since they’ve been dreadful for years. I do think it will be Barnsley and Burton to drop though.

I’d be happy to see either Exeter or Coventry come back up.

A nod to League 2 - Martin Allen can’t keep Barnet up again, can he?! A must win game against Morecambe saw the desired result and it all comes down to the final game again.

That’s tough.

Coming down - Bolton definitely as that’s my home town, more or less - so they’d swap with Wiggin (again) as a reason to take me old Mum to the away game. Probably BCFC after that, as it gives us the chance to laugh at Clotet if he’s still there. If he’s not, then Reading. Also, just don’t want to see Burton go down.

Coming up - Notts County probably. Just because if Forest went down next season and they stayed up… (I have a girlfriend who’s a massive Forest fan [emoji6])

Barnet have got every chance now. They are home to Chesterfield next weekend, whilst Morecambe are away to play-off chasing Coventry.
I would prefer Charlton to be promoted as their new owner may bring more financial backing next season.
Lincoln through the play-offs from League 2

Birmingham and Reading play Cardiff and Fulham, the two teams fighting for 2nd place.
Barnsley and Burton have Preston and Derby, the two teams fighting for the final play-off spot.

Really hoping both Barnsley and Burton both win to send Reading and Birmingham down.
Cannot emphasise how ecstatic I am that we've wrapped up everything a week early.

Could you imagine if reading came down though, when was the last time we played them? Nah but I think I'd prefer the less competitive teams.

Hope Charlton stay down, have loved the games at their place the last couple years. Also hope Burton stay up, I've always liked them in the Championship as the standout underdogs, and they've done well in recent weeks to give themselves a sniff of staying up.

Be careful what you wish for. ‘Southern’ includes Gillingham, Southend, Plymouth and Exeter - not exactly local!

Wishing don’t come into it really, we’re probably stuck with them anyway

To think, Accrington v Sunderland - that’ll be quite some culture shock won’t it! Sounds more like an old school cup game rather than a league fixture.

Can’t understand the pussyfooting around, it’s obvious that we want Reading to come down first and foremost. Unfortunately can’t see it happening.

I agree - Reading will lose at Cardiff - it’s then what Barnsley, Birmingham, Bolton and Burton do
with them all having tough games.

Cardiff v READING

BOLTON v Nottm Forest

Preston v BURTON

BIRMINGHAM v Fulham.

Derby v BARNSLEY

Don't want Lincoln from the play offs considering their style of play. It will be bad enough playing against Ainsworth's anti football with Wycombe getting promoted to have another one as well.

If Lincoln do get promoted, I wonder if they will continue to be built around the Fat Monk, Matt Rhead, the specialist in the forearm smash and use of the elbow.

I'd prefer Exeter or Coventry simply because of the style of football they play.

As for the other L2 promoted teams, it will be interesting to see if John Coleman can maintain the momentum over a whole L1 season with Accrington. Likewise, how long will Luton keep playing their all out attacking approach or will it be adapted relatively quickly.

Unfortunately Reading can’t be caught by Bolton when you factor in goal difference, so the only way they’ll go down is if they lose, Barnsley and Burton both win, and Birmingham get a result. Given they’re all playing teams with promotion to play for, it’s a long shot even my mate Macca might not bet on.
Hoping Burton stay up but it’ll probably be them and Barnsley.
I’d like Rochdale to stay up over Oldham, and Exeter to get promoted on the basis that they’ll be much better football matches to watch than the alternatives. I’d like to go to Walsall, Charlton and Rotherham next season for the real ale, but the latter are likely to be the more competitive next year of those who can go up.
