Do you have solar?

All good here too, 30.4 KW exported, battery fully charged and aircon ticking over nicely. Cooked on the BBQ as well! Candle lit dinner on the patio. I think we deserved the bottle of spanish rosé!

The problem with solar powered aircon is that it heats up the exterior. When everyone’s doing it (like here in Perth for half the summer) it makes the outdoor temperature even worse in populated areas. Has the term “urban heat islands” reached the uk yet?

Ambassador! ☺️

As I was familiar with the term when studying O'level Geography in the 80's, I'd say it has😉

I had my system installed a couple of days back by Oxford Green Energy. In the end I settled on 7Kw of Solar, and 18KW battery system, 8KW Inverter and a Gateway for power backup from the grid. The battery, inverter and gateway are from Sigenergy.

Steve and his team have done a great job on the install. Very neat and explained everything thoroughly. The pricing was very competitive and he did indeed reduce it by 10% for a Yellows Forum member. I was slightly frustrated by slow comms in the run up to install, but that’s a minor issue and I’m happy to endorse their work.

Hope it works well for you, we wouldn`t be without ours.

Greta loves you. ❤️

Do people bother discharging their battery at the end of the day, before recharging it on the cheap overnight rate?
I currently discharge to 20% @ 15p/kwh then recharge @ 5p/kwh.
You should join Axle Energy they do all this for you. Drop me a DM.

Don`t fall for @Northstandboy `s pyramid sales................. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

We do ours through the app relative to time of year/sunshine etc.

Currently we run down as low as 10% as the last bit of sun pulls us back to 20%+ then an overnight trickle.

We have found it pretty easy to balance our usage/charging/feedback to our benefit.

They pay £1 per kWh during grid events.

I’m using Home Assistant and an app called Predbat. Geeky overload.

I’m with EDF, and benefit from their Sunday Saver. This gives me 12-16 hours of free electricity during which time I charge both EVs and Mrs. Stroud does batch cooking ( I get the best of that job allocation 😀)
Same, very handy, I just hope they do it during the winter too!

Also the free electricity when England and Scotland played, think it’s one of the only times I’ve wanted Scotland to do well 🤣

If the export rate is more than 9p an hour in the morning I charge battery with cheap energy overnight.
Export as much as possible from the start of the day.
2 hr force discharge at the end of the day when the export rate is most valuable.

When export rate drops below 9p then charge the car and battery from solar.
< Personally I started to make it as self sufficient as possible charging up the battery from solar but the energy companies encourage use of electricity overnight to charge the battery to full so all of the energy produced in the morning gets exported to the grid.
