General Sky Sports EFL Deal

Apologies if this has already been discussed (please delete is so Admin), but I couldn't find it.

The Sky TV deal next year is huge. It's a big change for League 1 and 2, but even more so in The Championship. They're televising 328 Championship games next season - there are 552 played in total all season. Of the 12 fixtures played every week, five will be broadcast. In terms of the current 3pm blackout, I can see they've confirmed it'll be lifted for the opening weekend, but not said anything more than that yet. It'll surely have to be?
There will still be the 3pm blackout except for the opening game ( where there is no PL)
Could be some very awkward timing of games for us....

Never ever thought I'd find myself saying this but with no Ifollow and family commitments making away games harder these days, I might have to look into a Sky subscription

Ironic that the one principle that seems to be sticking, to "protect" 3pm kickoffs, is likely to kill off a big chunk of them for us entirely.

Be a similar amount of midweek games I should think, just a lot more 12.30pm and 5.30pm games thanks to keeping the 3pm Saturday black out.
Had a quick look back at fixtures in the Champ last month, Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening fixtures seem to be a pretty regular thing to pop up.

I have Sky and I forgot about that, although I suppose they will be bundled up in the 5 games televised in a round of fixtures. There will only be a maximum of 7 championship 3pms games on a Saturday now though, so it’s going to be a fair few player at other times.

Saying that we had a very long run both this and last season with no Saturday league home 3pm games so maybe not quite the change it seems it will be.

Will we be able to listen to the game via iFollow next season?
I thought the radio part was continuing with only ifollow live video coverage ending.
But ifollow has completely gone. I've not been billed the £4.49 since May and the app has gone from Google Play Store, I still have it but can't log in.
Do we know if OUTV will be doing a radio subscription? Or if the rules will change to allow listening to BBC Radio Oxford online during matches (during matches Radio Oxford was only accessible over the air).
Apologies if this has been clarified in another thread.

One of the many problems with this SKY deal is the number of times Saturday KO will change from 3.00pm to 12.30pm and the effect on kids Saturday morning football.
Kids play football Saturday morning, with KO times between 10.00am & 12.00pm. It is going to be nigh on impossible for kids to play in the morning and then get up to Kassam for 12.30pm KO. The timing will be exasperated by bigger crowds which will mean if turning up at last minute a good 20-30 minute walk to the ground.

I think the club will be launching their own streaming service, including audio only.

I think the club will be launching their own streaming service, including audio only.
This is from the 28th June and the website launch:

Supporters will notice the new website has an entirely different look and feel, adopting a clean, user-friendly interface. The club app will follow later this summer, in addition to a new OUTV service, which will include all the latest videos from the club. This will also be the home of streaming Oxford United matches for international fans, and audio commentary for domestic supporters.

Initially, access to the on-demand video elements of OUTV will be free but this will become a subscription service towards the end of July. More information on the app and OUTV, including pricing, will be announced in due course.

Adam Benson, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer at Oxford United, said: “Enhancing the digital experience for supporters has been an important part of our plans, so we are delighted to be able to launch our new website. The next few months will see us deliver a new website, app and streaming solution as we look to bring the best experience we can to our fanbase.

“These platforms will continue to develop, with a lot of changes and features still to come. We’d encourage supporters to share their feedback so that this can be taken into consideration.

Cynical I know but I'd like to know the cost. ~£5 was a decent price per month for audio.

Previously on iFollow overseas supporters could pretty much watch every single match unless it was on Sky IIRC?

So will overseas supporters still be able to watch every game or is just the ones which Sky choose to show?

Just asking for a friend... Not someone in the UK using a VPN...

Last season, we could get every match on iFollow full-stop.

This season, it sounds like that's no longer going to be the case:

International streaming

Club streaming and iFollow services continue to be the home for international streaming.

All Championship matches can be streamed by Clubs internationally, except for any games selected for international broadcast.

Sky Bet Championship matches selected for international broadcast during Championship midweeks can still be streamed internationally, apart from in the following territories:

Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan, South Sudan, Tunisia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, Yemen, Chad, Djibouti, Somalia, Palestine, USA, Turkey, Netherlands, Iceland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Andorra, Monaco, Clipperton, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Madagascar, Martinique, Mauritius, Mayotte, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, La Reunion, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, French Southern and Antarctic Lands, Wallis and Futuna.

Sigh. So it sounds like a subscription to Paramount+ is going to be necessary for 2024/25, if I want to watch the Norwich and Coventry games.......

As I'm unable to get to many matches during the season, I've always relied on ifollow to listen to the match commentary and watch the game on the following day for a monthly fee of under £5.
I know that Sky has replaced Ifollow, but I have no idea if there will be a similar service via Sky or do I now have to purchase the full Sky sports package?
I would appreciate any helpful guidance on this.

OUFCTV will broadcast online audio.

If you want Sky Sports you’ll need a Sky Sub or a NOW TV monthly sub, NOW TV is around £35, but if you take it for one month then go to cancel they will maybe offer you a deal.

Not sure they do as I have had a couple of those whereas Now TV offer you a discount if you try to cancel which is ok if there are still shows you want to watch.

I understand that fans outside the UK will be able to watch all matches, for a fee of course. As i've been an iFollow suscriber since the begin I have gotten very used to that service. I hope the club will announce very soon how this will be organised soon. Very soon.
I can listen to RO commentary (so far) but I really would like to see all matches live.
Has anybody heard anything yet?

Curious if you intentionally wrote the first sentence in Dutch-English (Dunglish?), Malc, or if that's just how your brain functions these days!?

I've not heard anything.

I am now assuming, based on what I've read, that any game being shown on Sky will be shown on Paramount+ here in the US, and will then not be available to any successor to iFollow (don't know if there's a broadcaster in the Netherlands picking up the expanded EFL coverage?) So that's going to include the Norwich and Coventry games.

But by the time the Blackburn game comes round on the 24th, I'm rather hoping that they will have sorted something out and we'll be able to subscribe to watch. Ideally with the RadOx commentary team. Like you, I've gotten very used to watching every game online with Jerome and Nathan to guide me, so I will be pretty pissed off if the service regresses just as we get to the Championship.
