National News Sir Keir Starmer

I am not so sure.

Once the human rights lawyers are involved it will mean that many of these illegals will be here for decades with their countless appeals frustrating the process.

16,400 deported since Labour came into power including over 2,000 foreign criminals, highest 6 month figure since 2018. Announcement expected in days on the updated figure apparently. They still have to follow due process with those in the raids but at least the process has started and in the mean time they are deporting those that have gone through the process.

The Govt have also transferred the roughly 1000 staff that were working on the Rwanda scheme to enforcement and hence all these raids. It does seem, at present, to be a Govt following through with action rather than words. Going after the dodgy employers (reducing job opportunities) and increasing deportation levels must have more deterrence than 300 people ending up in Rwanda.

The big test is whether they can continue this process of action rather than falling into words like that has happened previously.

Good job that isn`t in the last 14 years........... oh.....

Still some way to go to reach pre-Covid levels... In 2017 295,364 were removed from the UK, or deported.
(This includes people who were refused entry at ports and subsequently departed)

This doesn't include those I think so not a fair comparison but it does include deportations where the person has gone voluntarily.

The figure you've quoted is for the United States not United Kingdom!!

The old saying, lies, damned lies, and Essex ballsing up again!

Good job they've got so many to choose from then.

Dare say there's plenty of Tory MPs up to their normal standard of nefarious practices....but nobody gives a s**t about them any more, they're history🙂

Sorry...... 4 now.

At this run rate they`ll be struggling even more.

How does that tally against the last Tory Government  🫣

And yes, those that got sacked more than once count twice:ROFLMAO:

Still . . . . LOADS and LOADS to choose from with such a whacking great big MAJORITY (your favorite word ;) ).

As for your political allegiances . . . . pretty sure you'll abandoning the loser Tories and their caretaker leader by now and you're struggling to resist the allure of Farage . . . You KNOW you want to join forces with 30p Lee again:ROFLMAO:

Updated figure is nearly 19,000 failed asylum seekers and immigration offenders removed. Enforced returns up 24%, removal of foreign national offenders up 21% and 38% increase in Illegal working raids for the comparable period last year according to the Govt.

Lovely, hope they continue on an upward trajectory.

What amuses me about Kiers mob is now Trump the chump is in power how the labour MPs of prominence who slagged that idiot of are putting spin on it and making out how it was misinterpreted, creeping has a new meaning it’s called Labour. Mandelson has started now he is the Ambassador elect to Washington.
I wonder if Mandelson will try and curry any favours in getting interest free loans and not declaring them.

Don`t worry we are "dumbing down" now......

And the new health minister say you can identify as a llama and toilets should be a free for all........... :ROFLMAO:

"Ms Dalton said in an exchange on Twitter in 2016 that “we shouldn’t have gendered bathrooms at all”.
In another social media conversation in the same year – before she was an MP – Ms Dalton signalled her support for gender self-identification.
Asked if people should take someone seriously were they to identify as a llama, Ms Dalton suggested they should do so with “dignity and respect” in an exchange which appears to have since been deleted."

mBy all accounts a large Whatsapp group........... I guess the thing that matters is timing.

If sent them last week they acted swiftly.

If they only acted because the Fail got them.......................... different gravy.

What`s that now, 3 down in 6 months? The barrel rots from the bottom.

It was going on before one of the MP`s was elected so that`s 7 months then......

Turns out Rachel Reeves worked for the Bank Of England for only 5 1/2 years rather than 10 years as on her CV.
Rachel also wasn’t an economist. Worked in Customer Relations.
Rachel from Accounts looks out of her depth in high office. Taxes increased under her watch affecting businesses that ultimately affect affect employment.
As for building all the houses to relieve shortages that’s a pipe dream. Never going to happen
Oh and economic growth has gone up 0.1%. Joy for the future or more of the same

Governments of all colours should be forced to talk about GDP per Capita and not GDP growth. None of us are particularly better off than we were 15 years ago. I'd like to see the media challenge governments on this much more.

GDP growth is easy in comparison when you ship in lots of extra people.

Weird how it’s suddenly become a massive issue today.

What do you mean? It's always been an issue, I just decided to mention it off the back of it.
Oh what I mean is I’m very sceptical of people who choose to vocalise their concern about something politicised not during the last two years when it’s been an issue, but the day after it becomes a stick to beat a new government with.

I don’t mind admitting that I had high hopes for Ms Reeves and she’s generally underwhelming on those expectations so far (albeit I think it’s being overplayed) but i don’t know why we have to ignore that the actual headline is that economic figures are not as bad as expected/feared.

As I said in my original comment, governments of all colours point to GDP growth as something that should be celebrated. In fact, it isn't really that game changing for the every day man or woman without GDP per capita growth.

My point is not Labour or Conservatives, neither of them paid any attention to it whatsover, probably because it's harder to achieve.

As I said in my last comment, the fact you chose not to make this excellent point during at least 18 months of opportunity under the Conservative government but within one day of having the opportunity under a Labour government does make one suspicious of that neutrality and its apparent importance to you.

0.1% GDP growth isn’t game changing for the average man or woman regardless of the tweak. But it’s better than expected/feared.

GDP figures also have value for measuring against expectations and prior performance, which requires consistency.

I read that BBC article about Reeves's expenses scandal thinking it would be a half hearted piece with "an investigation outcome found Reeves had no knowledge of..." or something like that.

Nope, turns out she was fiddling her expenses.

Then she fiddled her expenses when she became an MP.

And she lied about her CV...

Not a great look.

You're making this political, not me, my point was made because it was relevant to the conversation taking place, be skeptical if you like.

Regardles, on 0.1% growth, it's meaningless, I'm more interesting in Ed Milliband reducing my energy bills by £300, that actually impacts me.
